Production Supervisor

 

Maker of composite aircraft structures needs a strong Supervisor to lead the production activities of their fabrication operation.  This ISO 9001 facility is fully equipped to design and manufacture high quality, complex components for the Aerospace industry.  The company is strong and growing, and is looking for excellent leadership as well as technical expertise in composites fabrication for this position.  This is a good position for that person with excellent composite fabrication skills who has had some leadership responsibility and is ready to move into a Supervisor role. 

 

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading production activities in a composite parts fabrication setting that includes the Clean Room, autoclave, and trim and drill areas.  This is a hands-on position.  Typical responsibilities include:

-          Day-to-day meeting of production goals while maintaining both Quality and Safety standards.

-          Coordinate with Operations Manager for resource analysis and capacity planning.

-          Plan and assign work according to changing priorities.

-          Initiate Lean manufacturing and 5S processes to improve efficiency.

-          Train, mentor and supervise the team for continued improvement of skills.

-          Perform defect root cause analysis and mitigation.

-          Perform product margin analyses.

-          Perform departmental administrative duties as assigned.

 

This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.

This is a career track position.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

-          Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering, technical or business major is preferred, but Non-degreed individuals with specific, related experience will be considered.

-          3 Years Supervisory experience in an Aerospace manufacturing setting.

-          5 Years minimum experience with advanced composite materials, including knowledge of various high-performance composite materials, and fabrication techniques and manufacturing methods (hand lay-up, vacuum bagging, autoclave cure).

-          Experience in implementing and applying Lean manufacturing techniques in an Aerospace manufacturing setting.  Formal Lean training a plus. 

-          Ability to manage people and multiple production projects in a manufacturing environment.

-          Experience in prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously, meeting production goals within time and budgetary constraints.

-          Experience in teaching, training and mentoring technicians.

-          Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

-          Ability to clearly communicate at all levels within the organization, both verbally and in writing.

-          Honesty and strong work ethic.

-          Flexible, problem-solving, positive mind-set.

-          A passion for the work.
