Primary Function

Responsible for a high volume, high quality prescription eyewear manufacturing operation. Provide leadership to their shift to meet, and exceed, the manufacturing goals and objectives established for the facility. Provide the shift team members with a work environment that allows them to contribute to the company goals and objectives, the personal and professional growth they desire, and the opportunity to be involved in our business.  The essential functions of this position include the following:

 

1.     Leads the activities of the team members in the production of quality prescription eyewear in accordance with work instructions and company policy to ensure a quality product delivered on time.

2.     Insures the appropriate level of accountability for facility goals and objectives at the team leaders and team member’s levels.

3.     Maintains adherence to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.

4.     Leads in the identification of quality, process, workflow, and personnel problems and works to resolve these quickly according to company policy, practice, and guidelines.

5.     Utilizes problem solving techniques, teamwork building strategies, process control, and continuous process improvement tools to meet or exceed the facility key operating statistics.

6.     Facilitates meetings with the shift team members and team leaders at regularly scheduled intervals. The meeting purpose is to communicate the company and facility goals and objectives, successes, process problems, corrective and preventive actions, etc.

7.     Facilitates team leader workflow management, workforce scheduling, and team members’ placement to ensure the facility and company goals are successfully met or exceeded.

8.     Plans and manages innovations to existing processes, implementation of new processes, installation of new equipment, etc.

9.     Assists fellow supervisors and the facility manager in the execution of their duties and in meeting company and facility goals and objectives.

10.   Conducts, leads, or implements the appropriate process audits. The audits will identify the need for the appropriate containment, corrective, and preventive actions, leading to minimizing or eliminating process deviations and non-conforming product root causes.

11.   Interviews, hires, and plans appropriate training for new team members. Instrumental in encouraging team members to elevate their level of technical expertise.

12.   Interacts with associates to establish rapport with team members, to take an interest in the individual and their work and to obtain knowledge of workplace issues.

13.   Supervises team members’ performance and discipline issues in a timely manner. Communicates expectations and behavior changes required in these cases. Follows up with each team member on his or her progress against these expectations.

14.   Conforms to cost center results and budgetary constraints.  Analyzes variances and implements action plans to meet or exceed cost per Rx results.

15.   Participates in the team leaders comprehensive development in areas such as leadership, conflict resolution, communication, process control, problem solving, etc.

16.   Evaluates performance expectation plans with team leaders and team members to meet individual goals and facility objectives.

17.   Communicates business needs, schedules changes, process problems, success stories, etc. This communication takes place top to bottom, to the facility manager, and horizontal across the organization.

18.   Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or directed.
