Our client in Jacksonville, FL is currently seeking a Production Support Analyst for a 3 month contract opening.

Job Description:

 Position provides general administration for an enterprise backup environment consisting of multiple solutions including both tape and disk. Infrastructure includes Scalar, StorageTek, IBM and SpectraLogic libraries. Data protection software includes VERITAS, CA and EMC. This position will work with the existing backup team to manage, maintain, deploy,troubleshoot and support all backups. Additionally, this position will assist to establish and implement new backup policies, identify improvement opportunities and implement new data protection solutions. Emphasis in providing input for developing local operating procedures, remote recovery processes and policies, and developing data recovery documentation. This position will need to be adept at monitoring the ongoing operation of the backup systems and providing utilization reports to identify problems and corrective actions as needed. Maintains and modifies backup and recovery procedures to meet high availability and mission critical business needs. Troubleshoots data protection related issues and takes appropriate actions in alignment with established change control processes. As we make technology moves toward disk-based backup solutions, this position will be focused on developing techniques and discovering capabilities to remove dependencies on tape within the LPS enterprise. An LPS Enterprise Data Protection Services Team has been created where many groups and disciplines have been reorganized to meet the needs of our customers with a focus on data protection. This position will be a critical functional role to align and develop synergistic approaches to protect data while providing daily support for our customers.


WORK EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES
- 8 or more years of IT work experience in data protection services, tape library management, systems administration, basic networking, leveraging best practices, and good security habits and practices.
- Position requires a high level of expertise in multiple systems environments.


EDUCATION GUIDELINES
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related discipline. Or equivalent work experience.


BREADTH
Intermediate professional level role. Defines procedures for monitoring and evaluates, diagnoses and establishes work plan to resolve data protection issues. Works on multiple products, activities and projects as a project team member, and may potentially serve as a project team leader. May coach more junior staff.


POSITION EXPECTATIONS
This position will be expected to accomplish the following activities:
• Run, monitor, and cancel or suspend NetBackup, Avamar and Data Domain jobs.
• Run and automate daily, weekly and monthly reports.
• Run and monitor restore jobs.
• Participate in scheduled recovery tests
• Evaluate media status to determine frozen, suspended, and expired media; redistribute media as required.
• Manage media rotation; project and manage media utilization; tracking physical media locations.
• Manage backup images, including duplicating, verifying, expiring, and importing backup images.
• Monitor disk and tape capacity. Analyze current performance and tune where necessary
• Optimize the backup system performance using multiplexing, multi-streaming, and scheduling.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot failed jobs
• Identify describe and verify the correct processes and services or daemons are running and stop and restart processes and services or daemons as necessary
• Interpret status codes and identify remediation activities
• Enable legacy logging; configure unified logging; set verbosity levels; view/collect system logs
• Troubleshoot devices and media
• Any additional data protection related activities and responsibilities as required
