Position Description:

Job Summary:
Immunology in Discovery Research is looking for a seasoned research associate (RA3/4) to fill a professional position with responsibility for conducting in vivo and in vitro experimental procedures in the area of Vaccine Development. The candidate will be part of a small team in the preclinical research and development of novel vaccine strategies against Influenza A virus or other viral infectious diseases. Experience in assay development and the evaluation of both humoral and cellular immune responses in animal models using ELISA and cell-based assays considered essential. Experience with assays like ELISPOT, ADCC, neutralization assays, cell proliferation, cytoxicity assays, cytokine detection or flow cytometric cytokine assays would be an advantage.

Job Responsibilities:
• Coordinate in vivo studies and participate in the performance of immunizations, sampling and sample processing from small laboratory animals.
• Perform manual and automated ELISA and cell-based assays in support of preclinical programs.
• Perform assays to measure the cellular immune responses induced by candidate vaccines.
• Works independently in several experimental techniques. Is able and willing to learn new techniques
• Understands project goals and identifies own role in achieving them. Puts in the necessary effort to achieve project objectives and meet deadlines.
• Has good aseptic technique and experience handling BSL2 microorganisms.
• Documents all work appropriately in lab notebooks, and performs laboratory support activities such as maintaining equipment and ordering lab supplies.
• Report results to supervisor.

Qualifications:

Job Requirements:
• The right individual will have BS degree in Biochemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, or related field with a minimum one to two years experience in the vaccine industry, with specialization in Immunology.
• Hands-on experience in assay development to evaluate both humoral and cellular immune responses considered an advantage.
• Experience handling small laboratory animals preferred.
• Experience handling BSL2 agents an advantage.
• Ability to work as part of a team, follow directions effectively and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to exercise judgment in daily duties, plan and execute experiments.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel, Softmax Pro and GraphPad Prism or other statistical analysis software is a plus
