Then join our team in the Clinical Decision Unit, a new addition to our Emergency Department! Patients in the CDU presented to the ED with diagnoses such as chest pain, syncope, abdominal pain, asthma, and dehydration. They require astute observation to and nursing care to support the decision to either admit to the inpatient area or to be discharged. Your nursing assessments, care, leadership, and collaboration with the Emergency Physicians are a critical component of that decision making. You will gain exceptional experience and skills in acute and emergent nursing care, building a foundation for many future career paths. Nurses in this unit rotate shifts and every other weekend. Self-scheduling and unique shifts offer increased flexibility. Responsibilities - Serves as a highly engaged and full partner on the care team and responds willingly to care team member needs for assistance and partnership. - Demonstrates critical thinking in the identification of clinical, social, safety, psychological and spiritual issues for the patient care within an episode of care. - Creates a caring and compassionate patient focused experience by building healing relationships with patients, families and colleagues. - Supports the development of students, new staff and colleagues, may serve as a preceptor. - Creates an environment of open dialogue, inquiry and continuous development by asking for feedback and improving practice. - Takes personal responsibility in improving patient satisfaction with the quality of care and service. - Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. - Performs other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications - Current PA Registered Nurse Licensure - One year of med/surg/telemetry nursing strongly preferred - BSN preferred -Graduate Nurses that are eligible for the State Board Licensure and Professional Staff Nurses with nursing experience will be considered for this position. Please note that the below salary may vary pending years of experience and education of the selected candidate. Minimum salary for a Graduate Nurse is 22.00 per hour. Licensure/Certifications - UPMC approved national certification preferred. - Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse required - CPR and ACLS required. - Act 33, 34, and 73 required within 30 days of hire.
