Program Assoc
Responsible for executing projects and assisting Client Development team in managing relationships with assigned merchant accounts. Serves as the primary contact for the assigned merchant or region. Enhances the company's position and reputation by properly servicing and corresponding with all assigned accounts in a dependable and timely manner.
Impact on the Business
- Works with assigned merchant(s) to increase their commitment to the card program through advertising, promotions, contests, and dealer/employee compensation through daily communication and/or on-site visits.
Customers / Stakeholders
- Acts as primary liaison for merchant to resolve escalated issues. Responds to merchant inquiries for assigned merchant by directing the call to the proper department or working with other departments to resolve the issue(s). Follows up with merchant to ensure proper resolution.
- Coordinates on-site training of merchant’s personnel to implement and manage card programs. May conduct such training as required.
- Attends meetings with merchants in order to assist Client Development Executives with the negotiations of agreement and contractual relationship as required.
Operational Effectiveness Control
- Coordinates the set up of new merchants, new merchant locations, or new marketing promotions within Card Retail Services by communicating all applicable information to required departments to ensure accurate and timely set up. Includes sending all applicable merchant materials for initial set up and ongoing promotions and on site visits as needed.
- Analyzes sales data to identify problems and trends with desired results. Investigates reasons for trends and reports information to appropriate CD executive.
- Coordinates the deactivation process for non-performing merchant relationships. Works with the multiple departments within Card Retail Services and with merchants to ensure a smooth wind-down process. Ensures customer notification letters are sent to each customer account under the merchant regarding the closing of the account.
Role Context
- May require up to 20% overnight travel.
Management of Risk
- Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues.
- Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand.
Observation of Internal Controls
- Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
- One to two years in Sales and/or Marketing experience preferred.
- Background in credit card program management and financial analysis skills highly desirable.
- Must have demonstrated presentation, oral, and written skills.
- Requires proficiency on personal computer, including knowledge of MS Office and Lotus Notes.
