Description Program Director - Criminal Justice: SUMMARY: Serves as the academic leader and manages the administrative functions of a single or multiple programs. Responsibilities generally include course scheduling, fiscal management, faculty development and evaluation, facilities and resource management, development and implementation of operational procedures, student management and retention, and special projects. Serves as supervisor to departmental instructors and sets tone for overall quality, community involvement, and performance results of the program. Reports to: Academic Dean* Key Result Accountabilities: 1. Program Management - Take appropriate and timely action to respond to administrative department reports, including daily dashboards, as directed by supervisor. - Use input from student surveys, advisory boards, faculty, graduates, employers, and outcomes assessments, participate in curriculum development and review workshops to improve the delivery of curriculum locally and provide recommendations to corporate. - Complete timely orders for supplies, equipment, and textbooks and ensure all equipment is well maintained and in good operating condition at all times. Does not apply to on-line. Monitor facility and equipment to ensure all classrooms and labs are safe, clean, orderly and well maintained. o Online: Ensure all online classrooms are functional and well maintained at all times. - Follow faculty guidelines regarding absences and substitution instruction. - Schedule and conduct regular program meetings to discuss curriculum, etc. and maintain records on instructor attendance, meeting agendas, and meeting minutes. - Plan and conduct Advisory Board meetings and use suggestions as input for curriculum optimization. - Using scheduling software, build the program class schedule to maximize facility use, class size, student average registered credits. - Participate in the development of the annual budget as directed including projected program enrollment, needed equipment and supplies costs, textbook costs, and software and instructional costs. - Meet the cost objectives and associated academic cost dashboard percentages as defined in the budgeting process. - Manage the monitoring of classroom instruction to ensure program requirements are being met, syllabi are being followed, and students and instructors are following campus rules and acting in a professional manner. - Ensure internships, externships, and clinical sites assignments are arranged in the prior quarter in conjunction with the Program Director and the Extern class instructors. - Manage end-of-the-quarter close-out by ensuring all grades are submitted promptly and requirements for graduation are met. - Participate in open houses, orientations, graduations, etc., as directed by supervisor. 2. Faculty Management - Manage instructional personnel by interviewing, hiring and building an instructional bench for appropriate academic assignments according to their qualifications, teaching loads, etc. - *Reports to: Dean of Faculty (for Online) Assist the Dean in coaching and developing new instructors by conducting instructor observations as directed on the Instructor Classroom Observation form. o Online: Assist the Dean of Faculty to coach and develop new instructors by observing them within the first two weeks of class and again before the end of the first quarter term - With each program instructor, jointly create and implement an annual faculty development plan designed to build skills and/or knowledge that contributes to improved instructional performance and professional knowledge/expertise. - Review End-of-Term Student Surveys and communicate results to instructors. Implement improvement plans when needed. - Conduct annual faculty reviews. - Teach at least one course as mandated by the Campus President. 3. Student Management - Ensure absent students are contacted - Responsible for achieving each monthly program retention goal - Work with program faculty and programmatic staff to develop and implement specific retention project plans to achieve retention goals. - Monitor and report retention results and makes appropriate changes to address deficiencies to the Dean of Faculty. - Ensure minimum of one academic advising session with each continuing student during weeks 2-8 to review academic progress, attendance, student satisfaction with college and instructors, etc. Record student interactions in CampusVue Contact Manager. - Schedule, post, and conduct appropriate office hours to meet the needs of all students, day and evening. o Online: conduct virtual student meetings once per term. - In conjunction with Dean of Students, administer SAP in accordance with the college catalog. - Serve effectively as the second-level resource for student grievances following the instructor level. - Comply with the ECA Attendance Policy. - Manage retention goals and comply with ECA retention budget. 4. Enrollment Management - Provide product knowledge training to admissions department at least quarterly. - Deliver program expectations at new student orientation. - Online: deliver program expectations via Orientation packets and reinforce in pre start advising sessions. - Manage the identification of DNRs during the Student Advising process. - Review applications for re-entry and respond to admissions within 36 hours. Identify eligible student re-entries in concert with admissions in accordance with ECA policy. - Interview new students where program interviews are required. 5. Compliance - Take proactive action to resolve areas with questions and/or citations identified on campus audits. Maintain a record of achievement, non-compliance, and actions taken. - Maintain a comprehensive record of your program in a program binder using the binder content list. - Participate in seeking programmatic accreditation, where applicable, in conjunction with the Corporate Academics team. - Conduct regular audits of programs with programmatic accreditation to ensure compliance with the accreditor?s guidelines. - Ensure correct scheduling of students by following academic compliance standards (i.e., transfer credits, course pre-requisites, SAP). - Manage to Academic Audit Checklist. 6. Career Services Partnership - Collaborate with Career Services and external community resources to develop and manage internship/externship and clinical contacts for program/s. - Serve as a subject matter expert for Career Services. - Make selected placement calls with Career Services resources. 7. Additional duties as needed and/or assigned.
