Program Manager - TWM

Position Description The in-plant program manager oversees the environmental and financial performance of Total Waste and Resource Management Programs at various manufacturing facilities. Responsibilities focus on the proper management of all contractor and professional services associated with hazardous and non-hazardous solid wastes as well as in-plant industrial services. Major emphasis is on the creation of cost-saving through the elimination, reduction and recycling of waste. Expectations: - Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations. - Supervise 3rd party contractors and facility labor providing in-plant waste handling and processing - Develop and implement plans and projects focusing on the reduction, reuse and recycling of waste generated by manufacturing, pollution control and maintenance operations - Ensuring conformance with regulatory standards and company policies governing the proper management of solid and hazardous waste - Coordinate suppliers providing commercial services dealing with the shipment and disposal of solid waste - Monitor activities, track waste and cost data and prepare comprehensive reports. Including: GEM database monthly report, contract monthly threshold analysis. - Support ISO 14001 work instructions, multi-media compliance audits, regulatory submittals, workplace safety, employee/contractor training and community outreach - Motivate plant personnel contractors to create waste reduction opportunities that are aligned with Ford Motor Company and New Model Development Center plant goals. - Support management systems deliverables focusing on federal and local regulatory compliance standards as well as the plant's Environmental Management policies and procedures dealing with the proper management of waste and the prevention of pollution Key Deliverables: - Maintain accurate and updated waste profile information including relevant analytical and documentation to support waste characterizations. - Accurately fill out and retain all required solid and hazardous waste shipping documents. - Ensure hazardous waste containers are appropriately marked and labeled and not stored on site past 90 days. - Complete all required satellite accumulation, storm water, hazardous waste storage inspections accurately and in a timely manner. - Maintain and enhance visual factory displays. - Coordinate Veolia sister companies and third party vendors to meet plants disposal, hauling, or equipment needs. - Complete all monthly reports on time and accurately. - Attend all required plant meetings and actively contribute to the development and implementation of plant environmental initiatives. - Other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications Education/Experience: 5+ years program management experience with a focus on resource management, development and implementation of waste reuse, recycling and waste minimization programs Preferred - BS Degree in Science or related discipline Certification/Licenses: Valid drivers license 40-hour HAZWOOPER Knowledge, Skills and Ability: Knowledge of disposal capabilities and limitations prior to shipping waste material to ensure efficient disbursement and storage Computer proficiency Excellent interpersonal, communication and employee engagement skills Time management: The ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines Strong customer service orientation Possess ability to follow through on projects to completion Complete knowledge and understanding of contract provisions and terms Strong management and leadership skills Ability to create and prepare reports as necessary Promote and adhere to workplace health and safety Knowledge of the equipment capable of enhancing the economic value of recyclables and reuse of salvageable by products Development and implementation of in-plant as well as administrative office waste recycling programs Training/education able to promote reduction, reuse and recycling of wastes Knowledge of 6-Sigma performance improvement methodology and other quality continuous improvement tools
