Position Summary

Under general direction of a Vice President, or a senior-level Director, the Program Manager is responsible for the management and analytical design of one or more components of product development initiatives, and the execution of detailed project plans that relate to assignments established in the project charter or business requirements document as outlined in the stage gate development process. Accountable for the successful coordination and implementation of multiple projects that comprise the AmerisourceBergen Technology Group strategy covering products and services, CER development and project budget management, implementation, information technology infrastructure, and marketing campaigns, sales efforts and post-launch activities.

The Program Manager will lead the team through the development of project management methods, standards, project integration, as well as the coordination of all internal and external resources. Assignments may span one or more projects that can range in size, complexity and cross functional involvement. The projects will be for ABTG software and hardware development projects, and can include new or existing products, and/or process implementations across multiple ABTG products.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develops cross-functional project plans and manages execution of tasks and completion of all deliverables within the business process and technical areas.
  2. Ensures project commitments are met – on time and within budget.
  3. Responsible and accountable for project success and ensures that project milestones are delivered with quality on time and within targeted budgets, meeting or exceeding internal or external customer expectations.
  4. Provides timely and concise communications to functional and executive leadership regarding project status and pending issues.
  5. Builds consensus among multiple Process and Technical Leads relative to project scope, task execution, staffing and issue resolution.
  6. Participates in budget development, identifying project costs, resource allocation, project schedule changes and issue escalation.
  7. Identifies issues and potential risks within the project; proactively manages them to resolution and/or mitigation with the assistance of the Product Management and Product Development leads.
  8. Recommends corrective actions to program leadership when project deliverables deviate from the work plan with the assistance of team members.
  9. Works closely with the Process and Technical Leads in the development and definition of project charters, business/customer requirements documents, and monitors alignment during project execution.
  10. Supports overall financial direction for the projects to manage the development of CERs, budgets, controls and measurements to monitor project progress.
  11. Monitors and ensures the development, tracking and execution of project deliverables.
  12. Ensures and coordinates document management of project deliverables and work papers.
  13. Responsible for continuous improvement of processes and methodologies used in fulfilling responsibilities; contributes to refinement of program management methodology.
  14. Provides support as required to the product management and product development staff; leads project teams by developing work plans within guidelines and monitoring progress on project milestones.
  15. Interacts with project sponsors, stakeholders, vendors and various project members to ensure that specified business needs are met; assists in the post-implementation analysis to ensure that requirements are fulfilled.
  16. Manages specific and dedicated area of workspace.
  17. Performs related duties as assigned.
Experience and Education Requirements

Normally requires some training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year Bachelor's Degree program, technical vocational training, or equivalent combination of experience and education; PMI certification or equivalent project management methodology training and hours preferred. Green or Black belt in Six Sigma preferred. Normally requires a minimum of ten (10) years directly related and progressively responsible experience, including at least two (2) years experience at a senior or manager or equivalent level related to managing large, complex projects; normally requires a professional license or certificate in specialized field.
