JOB SUMMARY:
Under general direction from the VP of Medical Informatics, and in collaboration with a cross-functional team, the Program Manager is responsible for developing business requirements for small and large scale business intelligence / analytics projects. This includes management and oversight of programs from concept to delivery, including development, training and support. This individual will also serve as the key contact/liaison between the Medical Informatics Department and all internal/external stakeholders, including external vendors, as well as internal customers including Health Services, Sales, Member Services, Finance, Provider Relations, Contracting, Product Development, and IT
The Program Manager will need excellent communication and management skills to effectively develop and convey business and technical requirements as well as manage cross functional projects to support the implementation of HPHCs enterprise healthcare informatics strategy. This includes developing project plans and managing cross-functional implementation teams. He/She will be responsible for the identification, measurement, monitoring and reporting of key performance initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, develop business requirements, specifications, and performance measures to define successful implementation of small and large scale business intelligence / analytics projects
- Cross functional project management and communication of business needs leading to effective information solutions
- Translation of business needs into documentation to be used by IT Dept and other internal customers
- End-to-end management of informatics programs from concept to delivery, including development, training and support
- Work with internal stakeholders to operationalize informatics programs/initiatives.
- Lead and coordinate communication efforts, as they relate to the internal and external use of informatics tools.
- Establish internal and external quality and performance measures.
- Develop, track and oversee project deliverables and milestones from beginning to end, and report on project/program outcomes and ROI.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors degree in information management, health care management, or related field
- Masters degree in above fields, MBA or MPH preferred
- Project Management skills and/or certification a plus
- Seven years of experience in project/program management in an informatics/data reporting environment
- Experience in the health care industry or clinical setting
- Deep knowledge of health care data and analytics, both clinical and financial, based both on claims (administrative) and clinical (medical management) systems
- Ability to consecutively manage multiple ongoing programs, of various complexity, for various constituencies
- Tact and skill in helping move organizations from legacy behaviors and tools towards future state solutions
- Familiarity with business intelligence models and software applications
- Clear and precise communication in writing and speaking
- Ability to provide leadership with diverse virtual teams engaged in the lifecycle of a project or program
- Ability to manage- projects and people successfully on a cross-functional basis and cross-organizational basis is critical.
- Ability to effectively interface with IT and Business Project Managers
- Ability to assume ownership of the relationship between medical informatics and applicable internal/external constituents, which may include high profile projects that impact all areas of the company.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including MS Project
