The Program Manager is responsible for leading and managing one or more projects in RD. This position is responsible for planning and driving each fast paced project to its successful conclusion by ensuring that its scope is well defined, and resource estimates and project schedules are specified and appropriate to the project. Organizes and leads core team, extended team, and interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the program on schedule, within budget constraints, and with high quality.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Leads and/or manages mid-complexity programs in RD.
- Plans projects, directs and coordinates the efforts of engineers and non-technical project team members.
- Generates and maintains development schedules.
- Interacts with management in RD, Clinical/Regulatory Affairs, Customer Care, Marketing, Operations, Quality Assurance, and Supply Chain to ensure successful product development and introductions.
- Drives to keep resources on task and on schedule, manage change, understand technical issues and ensure that they get prioritized, highlighted, addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
- Identifies and manages technical and schedule dependencies in the project and ensures that they are understood, planned for and executed against, appropriately.
- Provides regular updates to all Stakeholders on project status and progress being made.
- Contributes to improvements in product development process.
- Manages the overall risk of the project.
- Maintains currency of, and adhere to applicable GMP and ISO 9001 processes and procedures. Abides by state and federal employment laws.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
- The Program Manager will report to the Director of Program Management.
- This position does not have direct reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate degree in a technical field (electrical, mechanical or software), MBA preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in product development, preferably in the medical device industry, plus
- 3+ years of experience in engineering management and/or technical lead, preferably in the medical device industry.
- PMP or PGM certification a plus.
- Experience with all phases of product development (feasibility, core development, sustaining engineering, and cost reduction).
- Excellent leadership skills and experience leading high-performance teams.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Outstanding track record driving projects to completion on time, within budget and in high quality.
