Project Accounting Manager recruitment
Through its subsidiaries, the company manufacturers a range of products for locomotives, freight cars and passenger transit vehicles. The company also builds new switcher and commuter locomotives, and provides aftermarket services. The company has facilities located throughout the world.
The company currently has an opening for a Project Accounting Manager at our division located in Spartanburg, SC. This position will support the Project Management Team as Financial Manager and will be responsible for leading project teams in review of financial performance related to projects. This position requires an active team role managing costs and participating in financial decisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and develop project accountants skills to support project teams and overall organization.
- Prepare cost accounting and budget reports used by project managers throughout the company.
- Monitor cost information related to risk management and project accounting.
- Prepare monthly budget variance reports and assist in researching budget variances.
- Research pricing and cost information to support cost accounting reports and analyses
- Maintain automated cost accounting system codes (project codes) and other cost accounting files.
- Ensure that all cost and project amounts are in balance with related general ledger accounts.
- Research discrepancies and posts corrections to the general ledger and the automated cost accounting system.
- Prepare ad hoc and special reports as requested by management.
- Aid in maintaining the database of supporting information for reporting needs.
- Research exceptions and questions arising from reports and completes special projects as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BS/BA degree in accounting or other related business field is desired.
- Minimum of five years of experience in accounting and demonstrated supervisor skills.
- Demonstrated financial analytical skills.
- Proficient with spreadsheets and word processing.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions, and interpret a variety of technical instructions and can deal with multiple variables.
- Ability to compute discount, interest, profit, and loss; commission markup and selling price; ratio and proportion and percentage and perform very simple algebra.
- Ability to read periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias.
- Ability to prepare business letters, proposals, summaries, and reports using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.
- Ability to conduct training, communicate at panel discussions, and to make professional presentations.
