Project Construction Manager - Transmission
Supervising Construction Engineer I/II
Position Duties/Responsibilities:
The Project Construction Manager for the Electric Project reports to the Project Manager on project and functionally to theConstruction Manager and represents the principal construction contact with program management. Responsible for overall direction and management of construction execution to include safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance. Duties include the following activities:
Maintains management level relationships with other department managers on the program in support of overall project planning and execution.
Provides functional direction to construction Site Manager and Project Field Engineer.
Develops project staffing plans, position descriptions, requisitions and interviews candidates for project staffing of construction positions.
Provides support to the project management organization in estimating, planning, and development of execution strategy for change orders and additional contract scope.
Develop project schedules, estimates, execution plans, budgets, labor strategy, and subcontracting plan.
Participates in contract and subcontract negotiations, bid evaluations, and performance assessment.
Plans and implements procedures to ensure construction operations are continuously adhering to engineering designs, specifications, quality standards, schedules and budget.
Ensures thatZero Accidents program is incorporated into all aspects of construction operations and actively participates in safety meetings.
Ensures corporate procedures and policies are fully implemented and uses Six Sigma tools, analysis, and decision-making in the execution of duties.
Participates inreviews as requested by the Project Manager.
Assist project in implementation of corrective actions and lessons learned.
Provide salary planning, force ranking, AR information to theConstruction Manager or Manager of Construction as required.
On a small project may perform the responsibilities of the PFE.
Basic Requirements:
All applicants must have the right to work in Canada and be able to obtain Canadian work visa as required.
All applicants must have a current and valid driver's license.
Bachelors Degree in Construction Management or an Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience in lieu of degree. Equivalent experience is considered a minimum of 8 years direct related experience.
Previous field office work experience providing exposure and in a construction management position furnishing cost schedule and construction execution assistance to project management.
Minimum 15 years practical work experience in managing construction projects in a role of Foreman/General Foreman, Superintendent, Site Manager, Construction Manager, PFE, or similar role.
Minimum 10 years experience in a supervisory or management position
Good communication skills both written and oral are essential.
Basic to advanced computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
5 or more years experience in High Voltage transmission, distribution, and substation work.
Contractor license holder (current or expired)
Experience in electrical power installation for site development, commercial, industrial or utility facilities.
Craft Superintendent experience with union and non-union labor
