Position Description:
About SunGard:

SunGard is one of the world's leading software and technology services companies, with more than 20,000 employees and serves more than 25,000 customers in more than 70 countries. SunGard provides software and processing solutions for financial services, higher education and the public sector. SunGard also provides disaster recovery, managed IT, information availability consulting services and business continuity management software. With annual revenue of about $5 billion, SunGard is ranked 434 on the Fortune 500 and is the largest privately held business software and IT services company.
Adaptiv

SunGard's Adaptiv suite of products provides enterprise risk management solutions for banks and financial institutions. For example, Adaptiv Credit Risk calculates a bank's potential exposure in the event of a counterparty default. This helps a bank manage its credit risk and to meet its regulatory requirements in an often uncertain financial environment. Similarly, Adaptiv products help our clients manage market risk, automate collateral management, and to simulate and understand future exposure.

In the wake of the financial crisis these functions are crucial to the performance and stability of our clients.

The role of a Project Consultant

Project Consultants working within the Adaptiv business unit are responsible for helping to get our clients live, and providing on-going support for production software. It is necessary for consultants to be able to discuss and understand our clients' requirements, implement customisations and support the client through testing and go-live. Successful candidates will be enthusiastic technologists; who are able to program within a multi-tier software stack (i.e. web application, business logic and database), and to appreciate the nuances of our clients' business requirements.

When working on a client project our consultants work in project teams to take clients through the software life-cycle. Key to this process are the communication skills to turn requirements into specifications, technical skills to implement solutions, and problems solving skills to resolve issues that may arise. It is also necessary to develop a professional working relationship with the client, and to co-ordinate with the SunGard development team and other specialist teams.

What type of work could a graduate expect to do upon joining the programme?

Graduates working as a Project Consultant within SunGard Adaptiv will work within highly skilled project teams delivering client implementations for significant global financial institutions. As part of the graduate programme they will undertake a rotation through our professional services team, including specialist teams. Working within these teams our graduates learn from experienced consultants, in addition to our structured training schedule.

The graduate programme is designed to develop and test the technical, problem solving skills and professional skills through supported exposure to our applications and technology stack (.Net, SQL Server, C#). This is an opportunity for graduates to develop skills with technologies with which they are not familiar, and to increase their confidence and experience working with clients. They will develop experience in business processes which are mission critical to our clients.

Our graduates complete the programme with the skills and experience to make them very much in demand from the teams with which they have worked.
