POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Technology Engineer will work under the direction of the Manager, Project Engineering. The purpose of this position is to assist the Manager, Project Engineering with the coordination and oversight of engineering design and construction activities related to various aspects of the PHAI project, including the two long-term waste management facilities and associated ancillary features, and the remediation of LLRW contaminated sites in the Port Hope area.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Interacting with Project Stakeholders, design consultants and other contributing parties involved in the oversight of detailed design and construction of the Port Hope and the Port Granby Long-term Waste Management Projects (above-ground, engineered, bulk waste management mounds).
· In the case of the Port Hope Project, the work encompasses the review of design of clean-up plans and strategies for contaminated sites in the Municipality of Port Hope (public and private lands).
· Monitoring and evaluation of technical progress on engineering and design work activities, studies and contracts, against standards, objectives and specifications.
· Oversight and review of technical studies and detailed reports prepared for the Engineering Team by design consultants and subject matter experts to ensure high quality (technical accuracy and appropriateness) and consistency with formats/requirements to comply with client technical documentation standards.
· Preparation of technical scopes of work and oversight of the work of subject matter experts retained to assist the engineering team in the resolution of issues related to the construction and operation of the two long-term waste management facilities, as well as the remediation of sites contaminated by historic low-level radioactive waste.
· Review of technical and execution implications of change orders proposed by project partners and/or their consultants.
REQUIREMENTS:
· University degree in Engineering and Registered Engineering Designation (P.Eng)
· A minimum of ten years’ experience and ability to lead project teams
· Experience in contaminated site remediation (radiological/chemical/hazardous/industrial wastes)
· Knowledge of waste management and requirements is an asset
· Radiation protection, hazardous waste management and environmental protection is an asset
· Proficient in MS Office applications (e.g., WORD, EXCEL, ACCESS, MS PROJECT, PRIMAVERA, etc)
· Experience interacting with federal and/or provincial regulatory agencies
· Experience interacting with and presenting to members of the general public
