Project Engineer
Role Synopsis
Baker Hughes is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to work in the Technology Innovation group for the Completions and Production product line. This group develops new technology to a minimum level of proof of concept and proof of applicability to downhole oil tools. The group often develops the technology into commercial products and takes a leadership role in developing the manufacturing methods for new technology.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
Work in mechanical, manufacturing and RD disciplines.
Plans and conducts research, design and development of standard engineering assignments.
Assignments can be a significant portion of a larger project
May be the lead engineer on smaller project with some functional supervision
Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and makes sound design recommendations.
Assesses results for applicability, validity and conformance to specifications
Will be assisted by entry or junior or level personnel and take an active role in their development
Assists in project planning and review
Assignments are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity.
Assignments are reviewed for overall soundness and adherence to stated objectives.
Handles special projects, as assigned
Ensures that proper intellectual property protection is in place including filing patents when applicable
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering 3+yrs experience or Master's Degree in Engineering and 2+ yrs experience or PhD in Engineering 1+ years experience
Sound Mechanical skills
Good problem solving skills with a drive for results
Good written and verbal skills
Ability to build peer relationships as well as work independently
Must be action oriented, ethical in value, and have a strong customer focus
Desired/Preference
Solidworks Experience
Down Hole Oil tools experience
SAP
Working knowledge of Baker Oil Tools product lines
Other Details
Travel up to 5% of the time.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
