Project Engineer

We are currently searching for a Project Engineer - Turbomachinery to work for one of our most prestigious clients. We currently have an opening for a contract position in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Project Engineer
Project assignments shall be associated with Engine Systems COE which includes the following subsystems:
- Turbomachinery
Assigned projects will include completion of mechanical engineering activities in the Engineering Systems COE on new, legacy, and modernized locomotives supporting engineering qualification of components and assemblies from existing and new suppliers. Type of assigned project could include work of the following types:
- Supplier Qualification - Completion of NCI process
- New Product Design - Project management
- Technical Documentation - Engineering Validation and Testing
Responsibilities
- Responsibilities to include root cause analysis, development of concept design, detailed design, and design analysis.
- Ownership of stated technical/cost/reliability/performance requirements of the design.
- Interactions will include engineering sub-systems; systems engineering; sourcing; supplier quality; supplier for technical needs; and drafting team.
- Complete design work and design analysis as required to meet design goals.
- Development of 3D concept models in Unigraphics NX software.
- Write drawing change orders and interface with drafting team for layouts, detail design, drawings and change implementation.
- Review and approve designs developed by GE designers 2-D detailed drawings completed by drafting.
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles.
- Strong interpersonal skills, good written and oral communication skills.
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
- Participate as presenter in Tollgate 500 level technical design reviews.
- Closure of assigned action items from Tollgate 500 level technical design reviews.
Required Skills/Certification
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET-accredited program or GE-approved equivalent
- Minimum 1 year relevant engineering experience
