Position: Project Engineer (chemical manufacturing)
Reports To: Director of Engineering

OUR CLIENT: Is a manufacturer of high quality, naturally derived specialty chemicals with strengths in surfactants, emulsifiers, performance additives and other organic applications.
IDEAL CANDIDATE will bring to the table:
- BS degree in either Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing Project Management
- Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo
- Provide support to operations and maintenance as needed in day to day activities.
- Direct activities of workers who engage in constructing and improving process equipment.
- Provide guidance and expert advice to management or other groups on technical, systems, or process-related topics.
- Experience supervising outside contractors in construction projects or capital improvements projects
SUMMARY:
Provide detailed engineering, construction management, and execution of capital and expense projects for manufacturing chemicals by applying the principles of engineering, chemistry, physics, and computer science.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide project development skills, including capital estimation, project justification, capital appropriations writing, detailed engineering and safety reviews.
- Complete project implementation including project execution, contractor supervision, startup support, coordination of projects with site departments, and document control.
- Develop and assist in delivering training to site personnel on new or modified systems and equipment.
- Support site team efforts including PSC (Project Steering Committee), GMP (Current Good Manufacturing Process) compliance team, and Site PSM team.
- Provide support to operations and maintenance as needed in day to day activities.
- Direct activities of workers who engage in constructing and improving process equipment.
- Provide guidance and expert advice to management or other groups on technical, systems, or process-related topics.
- Use relevant information to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
REQUIRED SKILLS EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment required as well as a minimum of 3 years experience in relevant project management preferred.
- Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Ability to multitask on several projects at various stages of design, review and implementation.
- Identifying measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system.
- Determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
- Ability to troubleshoot, develop solutions and find root cause of, plant safety and operational issues.
