We are seeking a dynamice Project Engineer with electrical expertise to help us manage large scale indsutrial construction projects. This person will work both in our Portland office and on-site in an engineering capacity. Other responsibilities include:
Project Development
- Purchases materials, conducts quantity take-offs and project estimates, permit acquisitions, preparation of submittals and operation maintenance manuals.
- Conduct quantity take off and pricing estimates for internal and external uses.
- Coordinate with necessary departments to ensure a thorough presentation of estimates and scope proposals are maintained.
- Maintain project documentation; organize network and hardcopy files per the Policy Procedures Manual.
- Review contracts, drawings, specifications and other resources to answerquestions in a timely manner.
- Communicate with Purchasing Dept. and outside vendors to order and expedite material.
- Purchase materials and coordinate delivery to projects.
- Coordinate all purchasing paperwork and records.
- Work with warehouse/receiving, accounting, and purchasing in handling returns, credits, and invoice discrepancies. Keep vendor pricing and catalogs up to date.
- Maintain drawings with the field changes and change documents.
Support
- Assist the project managers/directors as needed with day-to-day job related tasks to ensure that assigned projects are managed efficiently.
- File Management-Update and manage all project files. Maintain employee, vendor and miscellaneous files.
- Respond to questions raised by Field Foremen.
- Assist in preparation of Job Start and Project Closeout project binders and meeting materials.
- Assist in preparation of monthly ETC. Attend monthly project review meetings if necessary.
- Help create billing breakdown and prepare billing substantiation.
- Communicate with General Contractor, Architect, Engineer and Owner, to assist the Project Management team with daily duties.
Manpower duties
- Manpower tracking and coordination of the electrical resources.
- Manpower assignments-Book job requests, schedule and track manpower.
- Manpower Coordination-track current and future jobs while also projecting future manpower requirements
Qualified candidates will possess the following:
- This position is based out of the McKinstry PDX Office though the applicant must be willing to travel and work on the road for long durations if necessary.
- Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA 29 CFR, and MSHA CFR 30 a must.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and Visio required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred.
- Emphasis on working knowledge of Access Software.
- Experience with earned man-hour tracking systems and productivity monitoring fundamentals essential.
- Knowledge of construction billing, permitting, purchasing electrical materials and equipment, electrical estimating software, creation and refinement of policies and procedures.
- Some awareness of Continuous Improvement programs.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical construction plans, specs, contracts, proposals, estimates, and other regularly encountered items.
- Degree in construction management, business management or engineering/architectural subjects preferred.
- Two (2) to seven (7) years direct electrical experience required
