Position Summary:
Leads the definition of engineering deliverables and development of plans for engineering activities (design, fabrication, installation, debug and start-up). Integrates the plans into overall project execution.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure compliance with applicable DN HSEQ Performance Standards, as well as applicable acts and regulations.
- Train staff and contractors in statutory and company compliance. Ensure all contract personnel have demonstrated competency in utilizing DN HSEQ Performance Standards.
- Assist in preparation of engineering project proposals.
- Responsible for assisting in planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating the technical aspects of projects. Leads the process to define project deliverables to meet requirements by ensuring that technical alternatives are proposed and evaluated. Support process to develop and maintain work breakdown structure.
- Includes developing schedules and forecasts. Coordinating and checking of engineering deliverables. Monthly project status reports and change orders.
- Ensure that engineering work packages are structured properly for effective execution.
- Budget monitoring and trend tracking.
- Participating in plant and contractor meetings and resolving any engineering project issues.
- Other duties may be assigned within the capabilities of the successful candidate, as determined by management.
Decision Making: While on a project the Project Engineer reports to the Project Manager, who has the ultimate responsibility for both the quality of deliverables and effective execution of project assignments.
Major Challenges: Expected to have sufficient technical knowledge and awareness of details to be able to recognize when technical problems are developing. Not responsible to ensure the technical accuracy of specific design details in areas where not qualified.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical, Materials, or Electrical Engineering.
- Electrical/Instrumentation, chemical, or civil engineering experience
- Recent graduates with 2 to 7 years experience preferably in ammonia or oil and gas technology.
- AutoCad experience is highly desirable.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite
- Awareness of project management function.
