Under the direction of the Manufacturing Process Engineering Manager, this position is charged with the responsibility of continually enhancing the Company’s position with respect to processes, machines (rebuilding machines and building new machines) and equipment at the Union, Missouri facility. This includes project leadership in planning, specifying and assisting product groups in the design and refurbishment of production equipment, to include layout, flow, automation, manufacturing and material handling equipment.  You will interact with and provide technical support to other functional groups with in the Company, and any other related activities or projects as required by the    Manufacturing Process Engineering Manager, with limited over sight.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

Develops and designs equipment improvements utilizing kaizen principles. Participates on kaizen teams.

 

Oversees installation of machines and equipment to ensure specifications are achieved.

 

Tests process capability of machines to meet product specifications.

 

Interacts with production personnel to implement technically correct standard work .

 

Troubleshoots process and equipment problems and implements permanent fixes and procedures.

 

Supports tpm and preventive maintenance programs.

 

Participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in the field.

 

Confers with associates in other departments such as marketing, legal, and engineering, to provide technical information.

 

Provides technical guidance, technical training and support to production teams.

 

Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods.  Ensures that all machinery runs efficiently; modifies machinery as required.

 

Ability to write and debug programs for PLC’s and HMI touchscreens.

 

Analyzes and develops process workflow and layout of equipment to meet kaizen principles of flow and linkage.

 

Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.

 

Works to become fully versed in all Lean tools, methods and documentation; supports and leads Kaizen implementation throughout the plant by utilizing Kaizen and lean manufacturing tools.

 

Strives for continuous improvement in human relations, material processing, information processing, and customer satisfaction

 

Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.

 

Manages capital capacity projects.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE BA/BS degree required, preferably in mechanical engineering.  Five to ten years experience in engineering related field.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS Good oral and written communication skills.

 

PC SKILLS PC literate, including experience with word processing, spreadsheet, CAD programs, and PLC programming.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS  Engineering math skills required.

 

REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data and draw conclusions.  Good analytical skills.  Ability to handle multiple tasks; good organizational and time management skills..

 

OTHER KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS PREFERRED Should be self-directed and self-motivated and have the ability to work with little supervision; accomplished in project management and lean manufacturing processes including Kaizen principles; have knowledge of machinery and production processes safety; time management skills.

 

Requires travel to other locations to provide technical assistance.
