PROJECT ENGINEER/ENGINEERING MANAGER

Our client is a world class EPCM firm seeking an accomplished individual for their Mining Metallurgy group; one who can grow into a strategic leader. Their areas of work include feasibility studies and EPCM projects of mining process plants and associated infrastructure, including green-field development and brown-field and expansions. The Mining and Metallurgy group is looking for an experienced Project Engineer who can act as Engineering Manager on studies or EPCM projects, and has the experience and capability to act as Area Engineer or Area Manager on larger EPCM projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop budgets and schedules
Analyzing problems and determining critical factors for investigation
Organizing and conducting investigations and analysis
Providing expert advice on design processes or construction methods
Approving significant changes in specifications and plans, work techniques and materials
Participating in the development of new engineering methods
Determining scheduling work priorities
Providing technical guidance to co-workers
Proposing staffing solutions and training and development opportunities
Organizing and supervising work of a large group of professionals and non-professionals, or small groups of highly specialized engineers
Providing input into salary recommendations, performance evaluations and other Human Resources activities
Being accountable for unit deliverables
Making recommendations on staffing and other Human Resources activities

COMPEDENCES

Makes decisions and recommendations within authorized limits
Exercises considerable judgment and initiative in interpreting policy in the planning and implementation of small projects and/or work assignments

QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of 15 years experience as an engineer, including 5 years in a lead role, working on mining and metallurgy projects
Advanced knowledge of cost control, estimating and planning techniques
Advance knowledge of computer software
Bachelor of Engineering degree or equivalent
Member of APEGBC or equivalent
