Project Engineering Specialist

Aerojet is seeking an experienced Avionics/Electronics Chief/Project Engineer to provide project leadership for the design and development of electronic components and/or systems in support of advanced propulsion products. Works with technology engineering leaders and program management to prepare technology development program plans which define and implement design and analysis tasks, special studies, experiments and/or hardware/test efforts for electronic/avionics components.

Direct and coordinate all engineering work; manage technical progress and schedule and cost status, define engineering resource needs and ensure proper staffing. Assure that delivered engineering products are created in compliance with Aerojet engineering process and meet contractual requirements for engineering design.

Monitor, track and quantitatively assess technical progress. Interface with Program Management, Customers, and other Functional Organizations, and Suppliers as required to understand and develop resolutions to program technical issues. 

Provide technical consultation to Program Management and Business Development organizations on business development activities such as writing white papers or preparing and presenting technical briefings to customers.

Technical Lead on proposals to government customers or prime contractors for propulsion development or technology programs.

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:
Attend IPT meetings.
Provide written and verbal status reports to Aerojet Management.
Create Design and Development plans for assigned projects.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and a minimum of 9 years of experience on controls/avionics projects, including engineering team lead experience required (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). Design experience to aerospace requirements, environments and military standards is required. Demonstrated background in testing and failure analysis. Experience with and technical risk management. Working knowledge of electronic production process and standards. Background in Electronic CAD design, schematic capture and PCB layout, is preferred. Software development, modeling and simulation experience is desired. Mechanical CAD knowledge desirable. Advanced degree preferred.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).
