Project Management Consultant recruitment

Northern Trust began offering performance measurement and analytical services in 1977, and we were the first custodian bank to offer a comprehensive performance product capable of integrating US and non-US assets. Today, we provide services worldwide to more than 550 institutional clients (12,000 portfolios) and 1,800 investment managers, accounting for more than US$1 Trillion in assets. Within the EMEA region, we provide performance, risk and compliance monitoring services to over 150 clients covering Plan Sponsors, Charitable and Government Organisations, Wealth clients and Investment Managers. Currently the department has approximately 60 partners.

Major Duties

1. Prepare documentation to support project goals, ensuring agreement among stakeholders, and justification for project expenditures.

2. Engage appropriate management, partners and any other relevant parties necessary for successful completion of project as virtual team or ad hoc contributors during planning and implementation; ensure dependencies are clearly understood and responsibilities defined and assigned to virtual team.

3. Provide project leadership of virtual team from initiation, during implementation, and through roll-out; establish effective working relationships with partners to ensure efficient process.

4. Facilitate project execution through proper communication and standardized documentation:

• design and maintain a project plan for execution and manage project to clearly-defined timeline

• prepare and/or delegate procedural documentation, flowcharts, etc.

• track all decisions, actions, risks and issues; work with relevant partners to resolve and escalate as needed

• regularly communicate project status, progress and updates to virtual team and any other stakeholders

• ensure impact to changes in cost or time are understood by virtual team and management

• proactively escalate any risks or issues to virtual team and management

5. Ensures the Northern Trust’s methodologies and standards are followed on all change initiatives and in regard to risk management.

Knowledge/Skills 

Requires knowledge and demonstrated application of Project Management functional competencies.  Must have strong negotiation and conflict management skills. Requires excellent communication skills (both written and oral) to consult with project stakeholders and management regarding status of the project.  Must have strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills to manage complex projects.

Experience

Requires significant experience in project management and change initiatives, covering such areas as client service, operations, IT and product development; with a track record of accomplishment in large, complex projects and change initiatives.  Knowledge of investment risk analysis, performance measurement and compliance monitoring desired.
