Job Description

Responsible for the completion of assigned complex and or long terms Outside Plant engineering and construction projects as well as budgetary and scheduling requirements. Directs and initiates, performs and coordinates activities necessary to provide design, analysis, implementation, support, maintenance, operation and change management services for telecommunications systems and networks to meet end user needs. Requires in depth knowledge of the telecommunication industry standards, FCC Rules and regulations, tariffs. Responsible for developing unique solutions in areas where no precedent has been established.

 

Duties

ü      Responsible for the overall engineering and construction of each project within an assigned geographical area.

o       Engineering Design Package- Actual Engineering is provided by a certified FPL FiberNet Engineering Contractor

o       All Permitting

o       Economical and appropriate material selection.

o       Negotiates entrance facilities with building owners/customers.

o       Accurate record recording and updates

o       Defines critical project milestones and ensures deliverables are met

§         New customer growth

§         DOT and other municipality mandated projects

§         Fiber damage restoration

o       Reviews all DOT and individual municipality road plans for clearing or conflict resolution

ü      Overall accountability for the on time on budget delivery of projects

o       Direction of all construction activities

o       Single point of contact for all facets of projects

o       Leads a group of employees, contractors and vendors to ensure critical milestones are met

o       Develops and provides budgetary and project schedule reporting

o       Represents FPL FiberNet, LLC as the prime customer and governmental agency contact for all engineering and construction issues within the assigned area.

 

Qualifications/Experience/Education

Bachelor’s – Engineering or Sciences is required or equivalent work experience of 5 years or more. Must have demonstrated the necessary knowledge and leadership skills required.

Advanced knowledge is required in the following items: Word, Excel, MS Project, Project Management, Engineering Economy, AutoCAD, and Outside Plant Construction.

Highly competent in communication skills, presentation skills, budgeting, and forecasting.
