Project Manager
Group Operations deliver a broad range of projects, which will encompass technical upgrades, process automation and enhancements to internally developed systems. The Business Change function manages a roadmap of projects on behalf of a number of business units. Typically these projects are generally the more complex projects, based on timeline criticality, risk or cost and will include product development and revenue generating projects as well as initiatives around operational models and risk reduction.
As a Project Manager you will be responsible in delivering a broad range of projects. The successful candidate will work within a team of professional Project Managers and will be expected to work in collaboration with the PMO function.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Manage projects from approval through to implementation. The Project Manager will be required to manage a multi-disciplined team (Internal and/or External) to ensure the project delivers on time and within budget
- Initiate and execute change in accordance with Group Operations processes and controls
- Maintain structured reporting and consultation with the key stakeholders and project board, updating them as appropriate with progress, costs risks and issues
- Attend relevant project meetings and forums to represent projects and drive the necessary decisions/escalations
- To recommend and drive forward improvements to processes and practices in line with industry best practice
- To coach and mentor others acting in a junior PM role
- To provide feedback, where appropriate to line managers on project team members
- To understand and demonstrate positive behaviours
The successful candidate would be expected to have Project Management experience gain within the Asset Management / Investment Management industry and a proven track record of project participation and delivery.
You will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Strong knowledge of the investment/asset/fund management business
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the end-to-end business process
- Knowledge of project methodologies and practices ( i.e. FSDM, PMI, Prince 2)
- Experience of business process re-engineering, analysis, user requirement gathering, gap analysis and workshop facilitation
- Strong understanding of Front Office, Middle Office and Back Office processes within an Asset Management Company
- Management of external Vendors in a project delivery context
- Experience of managing Technical upgrades e.g. thinkfolio, Algo, Swift, GoldenSource
- Ability to negotiate/influence with project stakeholders when issues arise
- Considers all options with an open mind, looking at the bigger picture
- Effective formal and informal communicator
- Demonstrates client relationship skills
- Demonstrates effective problem solving skills
- Take ownership and accountability
