Project Manager, eCommerce recruitment

You will be responsible for managing key business and technology projects as part of the the larger strategic investment programme and be part of the ecommerce Technology group, delivering a wide range of projects and programmes, including order management and execution programme; Web delivery; and key Banker desktop tools.

Core Accountabilities

Relationship Management

The role holder will be working with business and technology groups within the eCommerce programme to ensure a collaborative approach to project delivery. They will drive strategy and ensure projects and production meet their needs. The role holder will also prepare and present progress reports on a regular basis. 

Strategy and Planning

The role holder will work with internal Architecture and Strategy and Planning functions to ensure that development and application change are carried out in alignment with both segment and global technology strategies. They will create project level plans for application software development and change over the duration of the eCommerce programme and beyond. The role holder will be responsible for supporting the eCommerce leadership team in delivering the programme to quality, time and budget.

Managing Change

The role holder will provide Agile analysis and shaping of solutions around business priorities. They will be responsible for shaping the upcoming demand pipeline; will ensure collaboration with PMO Analysts and Financial and Management Information (MI) Controllers, in order to provide a consolidated view of change for their specific applications. They will also provide oversight of Project assigned resources, to ensure adherence with governance structures for project delivery, including regular reporting, deliverables and financial control.

Resource Management

The role holder will collaborate with other PMs and management. to ensure accurate forecasting and sound resource management, by monitoring resource utilisation against forecasted headcount, monthly updating of the resource database as part of the finance forecasting process, reporting and analysis.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The role holder will lead and develop a diverse technology team, including Business Analysts, Data Analysts, Application Architects, Testers, Systems Analysts and Developers.

Professional/Technical Experience

The right candidate will have a broad technology background at a senior level, to include application development and management, application architecture, programme delivery, business/system analysis and people management experience. They will have proven IT project management experience, across the whole project lifecycle, with a track record of successful implementations and strong business and technology relationships. The ability to develop a strong understanding of the business unit, including commercial objectives for the department is mandatory.

Professional/Technical Experience

The right candidate must have experience in managing internal bespoke front-office and back office software development and integrating such development with existing and new software packages. They will be well versed in managing multiple, concurrent technical workstreams and effectively working with both internal and external technical resources, where necessary. Examples of potential developments will cover such items as client preferences and legal requirements look-up ‘engines’. The ability to define accurate planning, development and testing estimates in conjunction with programme, application development and test management is essential.

Managerial Experience

The right candidate will have experience of working in a complex matrix management environment; experience of managing multiple technical teams; and experience in managing large financial budgets. They will have strong People management skills, as this is a diverse role and, as such, will rely on having a strong team. They need to be able to not micro-manage, yet have the ability to focus on priority areas, as needed.

Academic and Professional Qualifications

The candidate will be preferably educated to degree level, or above, preferably in an IT related discipline.

Personal Attributes

The right candidate will be highly commercial and “in tune” with the business.  The candidate will have proven influencing and communication skills, with the ability to influence outside direct reporting lines. They must possess highly developed interpersonal skills, in order to effectively manage relationships and navigate the organisation.

They will possess the ability to work at different levels of detail (from strategic to close attention to detail) and will be able to concisely summarise complex issues. The ideal candidate will have excellent planning, prioritisation, problem solving and organisational skills. They will have a natural technical bias; will be a self-starter who can work on their own initiative; and will also be experienced and comfortable in working within a formal technical structured collaborative team culture.
