Strategic Risk Program – Project Manager

The Strategic Risk Programme (SRP) was mobilized to produce aggregated risk on demand, enabling more effective capital allocation, more effective trading decision making and more effective risk oversight across the Investment Bank. The Rationalisation stream is a High priority steam that is focused on reducing the number of Risk Management Systems that we use across the Investment Bank.  

This role is for an enthusiastic Project Manager to take on delivery of complex front to back projects within the Rationalisation stream of the bank-wide Strategic Risk Program (SRP).  The successful candidate will be expected to manage all phases of a project from mobilisation, shaping and execution through to testing, delivery and close down.

The remit of the work will span all aspects involved in a migration such as system capabilities and operation, business processes, financial transactions and motivations, risk evaluation methodology, trade booking data and books and records; and require communication of complex concepts and subtle details to a senior audience. 

The Project Manager will be expected to take full end to end responsibility for delivery of the project(s) and associated benefits ensuring that we are driving towards the SRP goal of reducing the number of risk managements systems we currently have. The role will require managing multiple global projects and managing stakeholders in IT, PC, SRM and Front office across the IB.

Your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

• Project management experience

• PMI / Prince2 or similar methodology

• Proven track record of delivering business change with tangible benefits

• Experience of delivering system enhancement and retirement projects

• An understanding of financial risk, front- and back-office processes

• Excellent problem solving skills

• Comfortable working independently, proven ability to build and leverage an internal professional network to deliver tasks

• Solid verbal and written communication skills, confident interviewing senior and hands-on business and technology professionals

• Experience of communicating and influencing at a senior management level

• Adept at time management, personal prioritization, and managing several parallel tasks at one time

• Experience or keen interest in the financial sector, investment banking, markets, etc. 

Your main responsibilities will involve:

Scoping the project(s)

• Identifying the impact of the initiative on the business lines and support departments

• Identifying the key stakeholders

• Defining the project strategy and ensuring it is aligned with the goals of the SRP program and senior stakeholders.

• Developing, implementing, and maintenance of the overall project management plan, including risk management, issue management, and communication plans. 

• Preparation and management of all relevant project metrics

• Ensuring that all requirements, project plans, and changes to commitment are effectively communicated to all interested parties

• Measurement and monitoring of progress at clearly defined points in the process to ensure that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and that it meets or exceeds the “sponsor’s” expectations. 

• Responsibility for the overall execution of the project plan

• Ensuring project benefits are realised

• Managing relationships and coordinating work between different teams at different locations.

• Representing the project team at “client” meetings. Obtain buy-in from senior management for all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, quality assurance plans, budget, schedule, and scope changes

• Defining team member roles and expectations, and ensure timely feedback. Ensure that project resources receive any necessary training and are used effectively

• Identifying opportunities to rationalize systems currently not within the scope of the existing plans
