SOFTWARE PROJECT MANAGER II

BASIC PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:
The Research and Development (RD) Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of product development projects. The RD Project Manager will lead cross-functional teams through the entire project lifecycle process (Project Initiation, Planning, Executing, Monitoring/Controlling and Closing) in order to achieve RD software development objectives. The RD Project Manager serves as the single point of contact for all matters related to the project and is expected to interface with all areas of the business that are impacted by the project and its deliverables. The RD Project Manager works closely with product management, development, verification and validation teams to ensure project deliverables are completed on time, within budget while adhering to strict quality guidelines. Project Manager reports directly to Director of Software Technology.
OVERALL OUTPUTS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and execute comprehensive project plans that ensure projects meet established quality, schedule and budget targets
• Drive project tasks and activities against established baseline plans in order to provide accurate and timely project status reports and forecasts relative to project schedule and budget
• Effectively manage multiple projects and their associated teams
• Develop and manage effective project communications plans intended to keep key business stakeholders abreast of project status, risks and opportunities. Key stakeholders include but are not limited to: Executive Team, Professional Services, Sales and Product Support
• Ensure new development projects adhere to all published quality and regulatory processes
• Manage the production and delivery of all required quality and regulatory deliverables, ensure project team is ready to respond to FDA audits with little or no advance warning
• Actively manage and control project scope utilizing company change control procedures
• As a function of project status reporting, continually assess identified project risks, identify new potential risks and recommend and implement corrective actions to mitigate those risks
• Lead project retrospectives, capture key lessons learned, make recommendations to RD Management relative to process improvement, and implement accepted process improvement initiatives
• Capture and analyze key project performance indicators specifically Duration Estimates, Effort estimates vs. Actual Effort, Actual Project Budget and Costs vs. Forecasts
• Administer and maintain effective project team sites utilizing MS SharePoint Server including:
Building and maintaining Project Status and Reporting Dashboards utilizing Web Parts
Building and maintaining Project Document Libraries and Lists
Building and maintaining Project Collaboration Tools
• As required, provide project management training, relative to the implementation of newly developed products, to Professional Services Project Managers
