We are currently looking for a Project Manager to manage commercial software development projects using industry accepted project management processes in an environment that supports a variety of methodologies and complex business models to implement new product releases through the software life cycle.
In this role, you will assume responsibility for:
- Managing all aspects of several medium or a large-sized, complex business and technical projects.
- Defining and refining project scope, estimating project cost, further defining project deliverables, and developing or updating the project charter to be submitted for approval.
- Defining the project’s business objectives and goals, assumptions and constraints, the communication plan and the high level Phase Plan.
- Determining staffing requirements. May form project teams consisting of representatives from multiple entities filling necessary roles for the project.
- Providing work directions and leadership to assigned projects including scheduling, assignment of work, and review of project efforts. Ensure that all project members understand their role, expected deliverables, and task completion dates. May coordinate the dependencies with other projects and activities.
- Monitoring project milestones and critical dates to identify potential issues that could jeopardize the project schedule. Implement strategies to resolve schedule issues. Lead estimating and implements the control processes to ensure that the project is on target and the correct results are being achieved. Perform cost-benefit analysis, risk mitigation, and manage budget and resources.
- Assessing variances from the project plans, analyze them, gather metrics, and develop and implement changes as necessary to ensure that the project remains within specified scope (i.e. original charter and all approved change requests), budget (i.e. time and cost), and quality objectives.
- Conducting periodic status checkpoints with customers and team to assess progress against plan and resolve or escalate obstacles to ensure project success. Keep management aware of the major issues. Identify, communicate, and help to mitigate the effects on related projects.
- Reporting status to project sponsor during the project execution. At project completion, inform project sponsor of the deliverables and confirms their acceptance. Track internal customer satisfaction level.
- Providing the project team constructive feedback as it pertains to project performance. Use past experiences to identify potential areas of improvement.
- Developing a productive working relationship with project sponsors, vendors, and key entities, this may include recommending project team changes. Demonstrate constructive project negotiations in order to build win-win situations and constructive agreements among stakeholders.
- Coaching or mentoring less experienced project team members. Providing input on team member performance.
We encourage individuals possessing all of the following minimum qualifications to apply immediately:
Education Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or specialized training and equivalent work experience is required
- Project Management certification (i.e. the Project Management Professional designation from the Project Management Institute) or actively working towards obtaining the certification is required
Work Experience:
- 10+ years related business experience in software development is required
- 5+ years of project management experience in a commercial software environment is required
- Project management experience in multiple technologies, methodologies, disciplines, and industries is required
- New commercial software product development experience working with multiple development environments is required
- Strong background in business analysis and/or business process development is required
- Experience with executing multiple projects with cross-functional teams without directly reporting staff is required
- Tax/financial industry experience is desired
Specialized Knowledge Skills:
- Expert in PMBOK project management methodology and related process is required. Demonstrated experience using the advanced PM processes is required
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to serve as primary liaison for internal customers is required
- Strong client facing skills
- Excellent time management and presentation skills is required
- Proficient desktop application and project management software tool skills is required
