Title:   Project Manager

 

Reports to:   Vice President

 

Strategic Goals: 

·       Facilitate and manage all aspects of a site location project, from initial contact, research, proposal, presentations, prospect visit, negotiation, location decision and announcement.

·       Maintain knowledge of economic development and business in general by attending relevant professional education conferences and staying informed of economic and political issues locally, nationally, and abroad.

·       Monitor and measure sales activity. 

·       Perform duties essential to operational success of SEDA. 

 

 

Essential Functions:

·       Promote Savannah and Chatham County, actively seeking to attract positive commercial and industrial development in line with the community economic vision as determined by the SEDA staff and board and representing that vision in the marketplace.

·       Become familiar with the region’s marketable assets, local leadership, and building/site characteristics.

·       Support the staff and organizational initiatives as needed, including but not limited to conducting research, determining and analyzing fiscal and economic impacts of projects, drafting of high-level correspondence, verbal communications, setting and participating in various appointments, developing itineraries, agendas, and supporting materials.

·       Be available for informational phone calls and walk-ins; serve as an initial point of contact for sales inquires.

·       Communicate important client activity updates to the SEDA staff to include client visit itineraries and company profiles.

·       Actively  develop and maintain meaningful and effective professional relationships with economic development contacts (GDEcD, GPA, Georgia EMC, Electric Cities etc.), site location consultants, brokers as well as established and prospective businesses, through various forms of regular contact and communication (email, gifts, mailings, sales calls).

·       Attend professional conferences, events and trade shows.

·       Invite/host or travel/meet with prospective clients, consultants, businesses, commercial and industrial brokers and developers.

 

·       Work closely with marketing to develop and implement effective marketing and sales initiatives and activities to 1) generate and convert leads to qualified projects by communicating appropriately to the most ideal contacts (assist with the shaping or the marketing message, maintain and expand accurate database of contacts, prospects, etc.), 2) successfully move the project through the sales process (marketing will assist in creative and strategic thinking, client related event planning, etc.), 3) plan and host announcements (maintain communication with client throughout the process, guide marketing on critical client issues, etc.).

·       Monitor and measure sales activity (including updating database and hard files) and create reports, including but not limited to:

o        New clients

o        Clients visiting Savannah

o        Allies and consultants visiting Savannah

o        Established business contacts

o        Client contact frequency

o        Purged clients

 

 

Qualifications:

·       Broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field, acquired normally through a minimum of four years of college resulting in a Bachelors’ degree or equivalent.  Minimum of three years experience in a related field.

·       Experience with Microsoft Office with particular proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

·       Ability to read technical reports, high-level correspondence, leases and development agreements at or above a college level and ability to draft documents, proposals, high-level correspondence, articles and publications professionally and at a college level.

·       Ability to perform math calculations, percentages, ratios, factoring, reading and interpreting financial statements at a college level.

·       Versatile and effective communication skills required including being able to communicate openly, honestly and respectfully with a wide variety of people,  demonstrating professional etiquette and judgment.  Ability to speak publicly, give reports and make presentations is vital.

·       Must be willing to travel (light to moderate travel required).

·       Requires considerable personal initiative, independent analytical skill, and mature judgment.  Professional appearance and demeanor also required. 

·       Confidentiality is critical and discretion required.  Employee must be a team player who respects and works well with others and develops cooperative associations internally and externally.  Pays attention to and continuously attempts to improve client satisfaction.
