Project Manager & Junior Project Manager, Portfolio Analytics Transformation (Investment Management) recruitment
Two bright, motivated, and creative candidates sought for challenging area transformation opportunities. These positions will be working on a small team that is responsible for understanding, envisioning, and working side-by-side with tech to develop the right highly customized performance analytics to meet the vast needs of company investors. These positions will have a key focus on re-building and transforming this function.
Candidates with the proven "ability to create" and lead with experience working within or experience providing services directly to the financial services industry (investment banks, investment managers, etc.) are sought.
Mid-level Project Management Position: This position will be in charge of leading, mentoring, and supervising a team of junior PM’s. At the mid-level, this position will work side-by-side with the area manager to evaluate, transform, and enhance existing portfolio analytic tools and technology as well as create new to completely transform this function to better serve the universe of institutional investors.
Through exceptional team leadership, mentorship, direction, and oversight, this position will not only provide team workflow management and will be the key SME on all portfolio analytics technology and reporting tools, but will also provide full lifecycle project management from project team and project portfolio oversight, requirements gathering, to new technology roll-out and user training. This position will be responsible for understanding the complex portfolio analytics, reporting and data needs of the universe of institutional investors served, will determine current technology capabilities and short falls, and translate those needs to tech requirements while holding tech accountable for ensuring all projects (including enhancements) are completed on time and within scope.
3 – 8 years “MAX” project management experience is required as well as experience leading small to mid-sized project teams through the full project management lifecycle. Candidates with more project management experience generally fall above the comp structure, upon entry, offered for this position and will not be considered “unless comp requirements are included in application”.
Junior Project Manager: This position will be responsible for overseeing assigned smaller projects (analytic tool enhancements and small development projects) that fit within the overall transformation project scope. This position will be supervised by the Project Manager/Supervisor and will be required to complete all project initiatives assigned within scope and budget. 1 – 3 years project or resource management experience is required for this position as well as a high level of creativity.
For both positions, some programming skills are highly preferred (SQL, VB, VBA, SSRS), but these are not programming positions. Chosen candidates will use these skills to create and build smaller portfolio performance, analytic tools and enhancements where applicable.
These positions provide exceptional training on the markets, financial instruments, etc.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum of a Bachelors’ degree from a top ranked college/university. Candidates with educational backgrounds in math, economics, statistics, or other quantitatively focused programs preferred. Strong academic track record.
- PM: 3 - 8 years “MAX” full lifecycle project management experience managing small to mid-sized projects required. Transformation experience as well as experience in portfolio performance reporting and other portfolio analytics reporting content highly sought. Exceptional leadership skills having led, overseen, or supervised a team of individuals.
- Junior PM: 1 – 3 years project or resource management experience required. Proven ability to create and build.
- Prefer candidates with experience in the following areas: A) Engagement Managers, Project Managers, or consultants at Technology consulting firms (within areas providing services to the financial services industry) or PM’s within financial software firms (apps used in financial services arena); B) those at the supervisory or team lead level supporting reporting or other analytical technology C) team leads or supervisors overseeing teams that provide client interface for analytical applications providers such as Bloomberg, etc.; E) those working within asset management firms, IB's, or hedge funds with at least 1, but no more than 8 years’ project or resource management experience.
- Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) process, and experience with Excel, VBA, SQL, SSRS (not required, but preferred).
- Ability to make quick decisions when not all details are available; quick thinker.
- Strong interest in the markets and some understanding of financial instruments is highly preferred. Prefer candidates that have had exposure to and/or interface with institutional investors. Strong service mentality required.
