PROJECT MANAGER – PIPING DESIGNER/DRAFTER
Our client is looking for an engineering technologist who is looking to work with a smaller company and be a part of their continued growth. They are a design build contractor that provides a full turnkey design and construction services to their clients. Their construction projects include large office and shop facilities. They also have a unique niche in the chemical industry and most of their clients handle chemicals in one way or the other.
Responsibilities:
- Perform mechanical piping design drafting related to chemical industry construction projects: equipment layout, Piping Instrument Diagrams (PID’s), piping layout, and piping support.
- Ensure design layout and drawings are complete and meet client requirements and all applicable codes and standards.
- Design layout and drawings shall be compliant with recommended practices, sketches, notes and any written or verbal instructions given, as well as all project design requirements.
Qualifications:
- Two year technical college degree (i.e. Mechanical Technologist) or greater.
- Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) certification.
- 2-3 years of work experience in chemical or oil and gas industry.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Word, and Excel
- Fundamental piping knowledge and pipe routing skills.
- Pump hydraulic calculations is an essential requirement
- Able to read PIDs and route complete large bore and small bore piping systems from PID’s and vendor equipment data.
- Basic knowledge of pipe support systems and pipe support types for cold and hot systems and the ability to read and understand vendor drawings for tanks, equipment valves, etc.
