Project Manager – Windows 7 Migration recruitment
We are looking for someone who can effectively manage this major roll out across asia, whilst providing and managing helpdesk training, application testing and ideally to be able to handle 1st and 2nd level troubleshooting, minimizing escalation of technical issues throughout the process. There will be further large migration projects ahead including a Lotus Notes to Microsoft Exchange project.
Reporting to the Head of Project Management, the Infrastructure Project Manager - Windows 7 migration is responsible for the APAC regional coordination and implementation of our global migration from Windows XP to Windows 7.
Responsibilities
- Manage APAC migration from Windows XP to Win 7 project from beginning to the end for 1200 + users.
- Developing project plan, pilot and rollout phases.
- Establishing tentative planning and revising it according to changes.
- Determining resources needed - including internal and external resources.
- Coordinating changes needed to implement the project.
- Publishing a weekly reporting.
- Assist technical teams (Call center, Helpdesk, Desktop Engineering, etc) during Win7 rollout.
- Communicate to project stakeholders (business and IT), internal customers and management on an ongoing basis.
- Organize projects meetings with team members and stakeholders (kick-off, progress-meetings, and closure meetings).
- Engage regular interactions with all regional managers (Site leads, Client Services, Project Management, Network, and Strategy), BCP/DR manager, IT Security Compliance teams.
- Ensure regular discussions with global project management teams and peers.
- Escalate upcoming issues to senior management as appropriate.
Requirements
- Degree in computer science or related subject matter
- 5+ years of related experience in Project Management. PMP / Prince 2 certification will be a plus.
- Previous experience of Windows 7 migration or Lotus notes migration
- Scripting skills in VB, shell or power shell will be a plus.
- Knowledge of SCCM or Altiris.
- Previous Banking experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and to quickly assess the severity of an issue and act appropriately.
