The fleet strategy and delivery division of this large iron ore mining giant works across its operations of mines, ports, rail and infrastructure in the Pilbara whose efforts result in the safe and effective project management of capital expenditure for the selection and delivery of mobile fleet and equipment to meet the requirements of the operations and expansion plans in the Pilbara.
The primary purpose of this role is to support the Project Controls Superintendent in the development of systems and provide leadership in managing the planning database using P6 in order to increase the organisational planning and controlling capability and ensure clear visibility of the status of the projects is maintained at all times.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Developing efficient procedures for monitoring and updating plans for the entire Fleet Strategy and Delivery portfolio of projects
- Establish, manage and maintain the global work breakdown structure (WBS) and coding structures in Primavera 6 version 7
- Improve communications both internally and externally and capture relevant information in the systems accurately and timely
- Develop and implement reporting systems using tools including Primavera, web access and other available tools to track progress, streamline processes, increase project visibility to highlight issues to management and key stake holders
- Develop, manage and improve procurement planning and scheduling procedures, including efficient use of resources over the entire portfolio to ensure cost effective and timely equipment delivery.

The successful candidate will be an experienced project planner, preferably in the mining industry with a tertiary qualification, a proficient user of Primavera 6 and other project management tools. Business improvement experience (particularly Six Sigma) is desirable along with project management experience. Advanced knowledge of the MS Office Suite and the ability to communicate at all levels is essential.
