Job Focus Pfizer, an industry leader in biotherapeutics and vaccines, is expanding its capabilities to support development of early and late stage projects currently in the pipeline. We seek candidates with demonstrated technical and people leadership, capable of operating within a team environment to advance products to the market through innovation and execution of industry leading analytics. Working within a team setting, the qualified candidate will provide scientific and strategic leadership to approximately 5 scientists and will be accountable for delivering the analytical CMC strategy and data required to progress programs through clinical development. Principal job responsibilities include; development of analytical methods required to enable process development, formulation development, drug substance and drug product release and stability testing. The ideal candidate must be proficient in a breadth of analytical methodologies such as: HPLC (with UV, MS, ELSD, MALLS detection), capillary electrophoresis, mass spec, and/or NMR. The candidate will apply these techniques to a broad portfolio of molecular modalities including: proteins, polysaccharides, monoclonal antibodies and conjugates. The candidate may also serve on project teams, assuming responsibility for delivering the analytical CMC strategy/documentation for regulatory submissions and associated analytical aspects of vaccine/biological development. In addition the candidate will continuously benchmark Pfizer's capabilities against new technologies and evolving regulatory expectations for biopharmaceuticals including vaccines. Qualifications Educational Background: PhD with 5 years relevant experience, M.S. or B.S. with over 10 years relevant experience in biopharmaceutical drug development. Scientific disciplines: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry or Molecular Biology Work experience/skills: MINIMUM: 5+ years implementing a variety of analytical techniques for the analysis/characterization of vaccine modalities including: proteins, polysaccharides, monoclonal antibodies and conjugates to support biopharmaceutical drug development. Experience supervising scientists or leading technical or project teams. Excellent oral and written communication skills. An organized, efficient people leader with the ability to define priorities and focus on areas that add value. A demonstrated capability of leveraging the knowledge and experience of teams to achieve multiple deliverables in parallel. Ability to move challenging projects forward in ambiguous situations, knows how to organize people and activities, and knows what to measure and how to measure it. A person of integrity who demonstrates respect for all individuals and is committed to advancing the principles of Pfizer's culture. Experience with a variety of analytical techniques; liquid chromatography (HPLC, UPLC), electrophoretic methods (CE, iCE, CGE, SDS-PAGE), mass spec and/or NMR.
