Project Quality Manager
Henkels McCoy, Inc., one of the largest privately held international utility contracting firms, with offices in 80 cities and celebrating more than 85 years of operating with a reputation as one of the most reliable and innovative firms in engineering and construction, is currently seeking a Project Quality Manager responsible for implementing Quality Management System (QMS) processes for Project (Program) work. This ideal candidate will have experience in transmission line and substation construction and maintenance.
- Review all applicable project documentation including program, plans and specifications, construction documents, addendums, change orders, technical directives, shop drawings, request for information, submittals, and operation and maintenance manuals.
- Implement and sustain all processes at the Project site.
- Assist with the development of installation standards, checklists, and forms, test acceptance criteria, and installation procedures implemented during the life of the project.
- Review materials equipment delivered on site to ensure they meet specifications.
- Perform QA process audits and/QC product inspections and tests, with witness and hold points as required.
- Based upon QA/QC audit/inspection results, issue NCR and OFI requests for needed corrective action and preventative action. Record all results in quality records.
- Record and notify the Program Manager and others of any work not constructed according to the project design documents.
- Create and submit punch lists, follow up on items and assure 100% completion of punch list items prior to customer turnover.
- Attend project, job site and other meetings as required.
- Coordinate communicate construction and program issues to Program Manager.
- Perform other duties that may evolve as the position is developed in conjunction with contractual requirements.
- Track all calibration dates for test equipment and work with vendors in ensuring all test equipment has current software revisions, and is in proper working order.
- The QA/QC reports directly to the Program Manager for the duration of the contract.
- Supervise and manage Field Engineers assigned to support the QA/QC program.
- Demonstrated success in a comparable QA/QC position for a large multi-disciplined Power construction project with formal QMS approach preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years work experience as a QA Inspector, Supervisor or Manager.
- Formal education in Electrical Engineering or Construction Engineering preferred.
- Decision maker with the ability to work under pressure.
- Demonstrated skills in effective time management and multitasking.
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook.
- Understanding of Transmission Line Construction standards and Engineering Drawings.
- This position may require significant time standing or walking on uneven ground, possible climbing of ladders or being in high places, working in tight spaces and in general, being overall physically demanding. It may also require work in an all weather environment.
