Projects Director (Broadband, Local Authority Experience) UK WIDE
My client is looking for an experienced Projects Director with Local Authority and Broadband experience to be responsible for co-ordinating engagement with specific Local Authorities across the government`s rural and urban broadband programmes and will have further specific responsibilities for supporting broadband roll-out with local partners.
The main aspects of the Projects Director role will be to:
- Lead responsibility from for engagement with specific Local Authorities developing, procuring and implementing local broadband projects, including attendance at project boards
- Co-ordination of other resources directly engaged with Local Authorities, including on commercial, technical and assurance activities
- Specific management responsibilities within the projects team, depending upon the role (e.g. day to day management of the projects team, co-ordination of management, management of guidance and communications, leading on demand stimulation, leading work on local community broadband projects)
- Direct liaison with Local Authorities at a project level (including at Local Authority project director level and above) to ensure individual local broadband projects are developed, procured and delivered to time, budget and quality in line with government targets
Essential criteria for the Projects Director includes:
- Experience of working with or at a senior level in project delivery with local government for significant projects which require a procurement phase
- Familiarity with local government business cases, government contracting approaches, Local Authority project approval processes, and project management
- A degree of familiarity with European Union structural funding (i.e. ERDF/RDPE) and Local Authority finance would be helpful but is not essential
