Prop Trading Quant Analyst recruitment
This role will be working in support of the Senior Quant Analyst, sitting on the trading floor, beside the trading team. Effectively this role will be helping to develop quant models, and involved in real-time quant analysis to help the traders make decisions.
This position will also work quite closely with the IT team and system developers to work in developing trading systems to allow for faster execution of trading strategies. As such, a strong background in technology and trading systems for this role will be paramount. The role is part of the Sydney-based trading team, which trades all Asia-Pac markets.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in financial services quant analysis vital.
- Strong programming skills are essential. The ideal candidate will have experience in a variety of languages/environments and be able to pick up new languages quickly.
- Experience with at least some of the following systems: C/C++, python, Mathematica, Matlab, R, Fortran, S-Plus, SQL, Perl. Experience using the Unix Command Line would also be useful.
- Strong mathematical background necessary, with at least a solid undergraduate degree in Physics, Mathematics or Engineering. Study within applied mathematics and statistics is looked upon highly. Physics PhDs are also ideal as they allow candidates to gain experience utilising a combination of techniques (such as math, programming, etc) to solve non-trivial quantitative problems.
- Ideally the candidate will hold a postgraduate research qualification in a quantitative discipline. The experience of working independently and pursuing open-ended research is extremely useful.
- General problem solving skills. Candidate should be able to think logically and critically with unfamiliar problems.
- Finance knowledge desirable.
