Property Research

A position exists for an Analyst/Senior Analyst (dependent on experience) to join our 10 person Property Research Team. The team plays a key role in MG Real Estate's investment strategy and decision making for the property portfolios under management. The successful candidate will be involved in the analysis ofUKand international economies and commercial property markets and make a key contribution to MG Real Estate's research during an exciting phase in its development as a global property fund manager.

Responsibilities: * Assess the outlook for UK commercial property at a national, regional, and local level. Monitor and analyse economic and other influences affecting the performance of UK commercial property. * Investment strategy and other research related to MG Real Estate's international investments, particularly in North America. * Assist in the formulation of regularly updated investment strategies for funds under management. Involvement in research on fund strategies, portfolio construction and risk control. * Develop and maintain econometric models to understand, and forecast, property market trends on a regular basis. Use these models to interpret property market dynamics and assist in view formation. * Review external forecasts and research relating to property market performance. Participate in meetings with property professionals to understand conditions in, and the outlook for, commercial property markets. * With team support, conduct innovative research into the nature of property as an investment asset and its potential for creating new business opportunities. * Individually and as part of the team, write reports and give oral presentations on the outlook for commercial property markets and on topical issues. * Significant scope to pursue particular areas of interest within property research, with the goal of driving investment performance and capitalising upon opportunities available through pioneering work. Key Requirements: Technical and professional knowledge: * A good degree in a related discipline. Postgraduate qualifications an advantage. * The ability to apply economic theory and concepts to the analysis of property markets, both at macro and micro level. * The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate substantial quantitative analytical skills. Knowledge of regional and urban economics and/or financial economics would be an asset but is not essential. * Experience within a property investment role, ideally research related, or in a role which uses economic skills and analysis, preferably in a real estate context (greater experience would be recognised in role responsibilities, job title, salary, etc.)

Computer literacy * Computer literate (including good Excel/Word/PowerPoint skills), with the ability to pick up easily any new package. * Working experience of econometric modelling applications an advantage (particularly Eviews).

Communication skills * Demonstrable ability to write concise and well-presented text (strong written English skills required). * Demonstrable ability to make formal presentations. * Ability to deal with others from different investment backgrounds and with different views is essential.

Team skills * Working within a small team, adaptability and co-operation are essential attributes. * Highly motivated team player. * Self starter with the ability to multi-task.

Innovation * Ability to think creatively.
