Property Underwriter

Full Job Description

The main purpose of this role is to underwrite new and renewal corporate property business in line with the business plan.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Underwrite within prescribed Individual Underwriting Authority guidelines by analysing, evaluating and rating, new, renewal and mid-term submissions, ensuring all processing and policy preparation is accurate and compliant
- Handle underwriting referrals on Delegated Authority Facilities
- For risks beyond Individual Underwriting Authority prepare terms for referral internally or to Carriers.
- Make a major contribution towards strong and positive Carrier relationships
- Ensure agreed service standards are achieved
- Work effectively with the Business Support, Claims and Accounts areas where required
- Act as a referral point and participate in training and development of less experienced staff as required

Our client is looking for the following skills and experience:
- Proven Commercial underwriting experience
- Progress towards Insurance qualifications would be an advantage
- Strong computer systems abilities
- Strong literacy numeracy skills
- Good understanding of Property, Liability and associated classes, including Terrorism, across a wide spectrum of trades covers.
- Experience of the Care Sector would be an advantage
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic management and supervisory skills
- Good time management organisational skills
- Good team player
