Proxy and Class Actions Specialist recruitment
Role Summary
This position is on the Investment Manager and Global Security Services (IMGSS) team, within the Investment Division. IMGSS provides investment decision support to the Russell group of Funds, managing Proxy Voting, Class Actions, Foreign Registration and Securities Lending.
This position reports to the Director, Strategic Initiatives in Seattle and provides analysis and oversight on our proxy voting and class actions program for all Russell funds globally.
The responsibilities of the individual in this position include:
- Interaction with the Proxy Voting Committee and responsible for managing all aspects of the global Proxy Voting and Class Action program for Russell's funds and clients. The Proxy and Class Actions Administrator will be responsible for coordinating the proxy voting process with the members of the Proxy Voting Committee. The associate is responsible for generating, analyzing and presenting reports, circulating referred items and coordinating recommendations to the Proxy Voting Committee. Working closely with the Proxy Committee, coordinate periodic changes to the Proxy guidelines. Develop and maintain daily procedures and checklists where appropriate. Ensure clear accountability with regional offices and vendors by developing and maintaining a service level agreement. Understand and comply with any applicable regulatory requirements.
- Day to day operations include account set-up and maintenance, running recurring and ad hoc reports for both internal and external use, responding to technical questions and submitting accurate votes to the Proxy administration vendor.
- Oversee all aspects of vendor management including facilitation of due diligence trips and monthly service level meetings. This would also include management of the billing process and periodic contract renewals.
- Participate in the development of a global governance process to support consistent decision making for class actions claims.
- Identify and measure key performance indicators for both class actions and proxy voting.
The successful candidate will have extensive demonstrable skills and experiences including the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Finance required.
- 2+ years of experience in the Financial Services Industry; Experience in securities operations preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in proxy voting and class action filing; Knowledge of Proxy Exchange (Governance Analytics) preferred.
- 2+ years of experience Vendor Management experience.
- Must possess and demonstrate very strong written, verbal communication skills and presentation skills.
- Must be analytical with strong attention to detail and the ability to problem solve.
- Possess excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills; ability to meet challenging deadlines on a daily basis in a fluid environment.
- Proven computer skills, with a command of the advanced functions of Excel (must be able to create pivot tables and macros).
- Must be a motivated self starter and strong individual contributor that can also function well within a larger team.
