Psychiatric Social Worker (LCSW) Job in Antioch, California Us

Provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment and crisis intervention as needed to members who present themselves for psychiatric evaluation. Collaborates with treating physician, psychiatric and allied health professional team to plan and direct each individual member's treatment program.

Essential Functions:
- Assesses, develops and coordinates a clinical treatment program for Health Plan members with acute or chronic psychiatric disorders.
- Consults with staff regarding diagnosis, strengths and deficits of member, as needed or appropriate.
- Provides outpatient psychotherapy to individuals and groups.
- Charts member's treatments and progress in accordance with state regulations and department procedures.
- Instructs and counsels members regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.
- Interprets psychiatric treatment to member's family and helps to reduce fear and other attitudes obstructing acceptance of psychiatric care and continuation of treatment if asked to do so by member.
- Makes referrals to case manager, as appropriate, and/or refers member's family to community support services and resources.
- Utilizes resources of public and private agencies and community organizations to meet the needs of members.
- Collaborates with physicians in screening and evaluating members for psychotropic medications.
- May supervise PSW Assistants and PSW Interns, if supervision course has been completed.
- Works on-call evenings, weekends holidays, assuming primary responsibility for emergency psychiatric care and acting as consultant to emergency department physicians and staff.
- Reports safety concerns to mandated reporting agencies.

Secondary Functions:
- Provide group, individual, and family-based intenventional chemical dependency services in an outpatient setting
- Conduct initial and ongoing DSM-based assessments and diagnoses
- Provide crisis intervention, family-focused treatment planning, and conflict resolution service
- Develop treatment plans and coordinate care across various internal and external service modalities
- Complete and maintain computerized documentation of treatment services
- Participation in Department and Service Team meetings as well as educational activities as approved by Supervisor
- Maintain current licensing status and complete related continuing education and KP-defined competency training
- Other duties include: Individual, group, and family-based mental health treatment in an outpatient setting;
- Development and implementation of psycho-educational group-based intervention programs;
- Documentation of assessment, treatment, and patient progress using a computer-based medical record system;
- Carry out hospital case consultations as requested;
- Comply with federal and state regulations and internal policies Kaiser that address privacy, treatment authorization, and practice-related requirements;
- Complete in a timely manner all Kaiser Permanente compliance-related training and knowledge requirements as defined by the employee's Supervisor and by Kaiser Permanente policy.
- May provide hospital consultation and liaison services.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- LCSW: Masters degree in Social Work required from an accredited college or university and Valid Licensed Clinical Social Worker license in the State of California.
- Has experience in assessing, diagnosing and treating a broad range of psychiatric conditions.
- Must be familiar with DMS-IV-R as a means of diagnosis.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of social service agencies, state regulations, and professional board standards as is related to member treatment, patient rights, and member/patient confidentiality.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in assessing, diagnosing, and treating a broad range of psychiatric conditions
- Familiar with DSM-IV-R as a means of dioagnosis
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Position is open to LCSW and LMFT, requires minimum of two years' experience in an outpatient chemical dependency (CD) setting with primary focus on assessment and treatment of adult patients.
- Experienced in providing individual, family,and group CD treatment services.
- Employee should have a theoretical grounding in empirically-based models for treatment of harm reduction, saboxone protocols and dual diagnosis disorders and demonstrable clinical experience working with adolescents, adults, and families.
- Experience with Adult/ Adolescent chemical dependency is preferred.
- Competent in DSM-based diagnostic evaluation and treatment planning.
- Experienced in crisis and other interventional services across a diagnostic spectrum common to outpatient mental health and chemical dependency settings.
- Comfortable working with an ethnically and culturally diverse patient population.
- Competent in keyboarding and electronic record-keeping, use of e-mail, and other basic computer applications.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality and service. Evening hours and evening/weekend hospital consultation (on-call) service may occasionally be required per operational need. Initial schedule may be modified by mutual agreement.
- Knowledge of social services agencies, state regulations, and professional board standards as is related to member treatment, patient rights and member/ patient confidentiality.
- Applicants must have basic keyboarding and fundamental computer skills (e.g., e-mail; opening attachments; preparing, saving, and retrieving documents); working familiarity with commonly used software programs such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is desirable.
