Public Relations Director- Cypress, or Concord, CA based Job in Concord, California US

UnitedHealthcare is seeking a regional director of Public Relations to design and implement strategic and tactical public relations plans and serve as media relations lead. This director can be located in either our Cypress, CA or Concord, CA office and will have responsibility for all public relations activities across the state.
Responsibilities:
Managing proactive and reactive media relations activities, plans, strategies and tactics that promote UnitedHealthcare's health and well-being programs and services.
Leveraging relationships with reporters to garner positive coverage of UnitedHealthcare in both print and broadcast media, and provide rapid response to media and/or member inquires.
Serving as the primary spokesperson for UnitedHealthcare.
Creating news releases, written statements, media/customer talking points and QAs, assisting in writing and production of communications materials.
Facilitating media interviews with regional executives and experts on numerous health-related topics.
Advising and assisting regional leadership in assessing potential crises and developing communications in response to media inquiries and member/provider issues that can turn into media issues.
Managing and participating in the development and implementation of communications goals, objectives, strategies, and priorities for assigned programs.
Assisting the National Vice President of Public Relations in handling and working with media that may impact UnitedHealthcare's interests in the region.
Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years of relevant corporate and/or PR agency experience in the health care space.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Proven track record of developing and pitching stories to print and broadcast media with strong placement track record.
Strong written, verbal and media relations skills required, including experience writing news releases, bylined articles, etc.
Knowledge of AP Style.
Demonstrated experience in developing crisis communications including written statements, media/customer QAs and Talking Points as well as employee communications.
Ability to work with and interact with multiple executive teams.
Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team within integrated, national Public Relations and Communications teams.
Supervisory experience and experience managing consultants and agencies.
Basic understanding of federal and state regulatory environment.
Must be able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
Computer literacy (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoi
