Department: Communications and Public Affairs Location: Bismarck, ND Hiring Manager: Laura Lueder Closing Date: 04/01/2012 Job Type: Full-Time Entry Level: $3,890 - $4,862 /month Job Summary: As a public relations professional, this position develops and maintains relationships with various publics and develops strategic communications plans and works autonomously in implementing them. This position produces a variety of informational materials that effectively communicate the issues and actions of the corporation to stakeholders: employees, retirees, customers, stockholders, the media and the public. A significant part of this position's responsibilities include writing, editing and overseeing employee communication channels, including the corporate magazine, newsletter, intranet and other material. In addition, this position serves as a media spokesperson for the company. Minimum Qualifications: Four-year bachelor s degree in journalism, mass communications, public relations, marketing communications or similar degree, with an emphasis in publication writing. Minimum of five years professional work experience in at least one of the following areas: corporate communications, public relations, mass media or related experience. Required: Must be proficient at producing a variety of public relations materials, including publications, brochures and multimedia; strong PC knowledge and skills; and excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt to various audiences and styles. Preferred: Experience working with the news media as a company spokesperson; strategic planning, marketing and advertising experience; substantial knowledge of diversified natural resource companies; demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior executives; business experience that provides the ability to read and interpret business documents. Duties/Responsibilities Research, write, edit, photograph, coordinate and oversee employee communication channels, including the corporate magazine, newsletter, intranet and other material. Oversee the production of a variety of creative services, including publications, audio-visual/video, website, desktop graphic design, advertising, marketing, interactive media and related communication technologies. Develop and implement effective public relations strategies through a variety of communication tools and technologies using both internal and external resources specific to the communication needs of the corporation and its operating companies. Provide business writing services, such as producing news articles, news releases, feature stories and video scripts. Implement effective media relations strategies and serve as a company spokesperson. Work directly with company managers and employees to increase understanding and commitment to effective public relations and communication practices. Ensure cost-effective, efficient use of resources through various tracking and reporting procedures.
