- Develops and executes a comprehensive purchasing plan, both short and long term, to support sales and revenue objectives.
- Locate and research vendors of materials, equipment and supplies, in order to determine product availability, pricing and terms of sales.
- Achieve aggressive year-over-year supplier cost improvement targets – deliver 4-5% savings annually.
- Creatively find methods to optimize supplier special pricing agreements; maximize impact while minimizing frequency and administrative complexity.
- Analyze markets and delivery systems in order to assess present and future material availability.
- Positive partnership with management and other divisions.
- Represent companies in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers.
- Implement procurement strategy and policies.
- Continually develop expertise to support growth for new projects.
- Maintain procurement files, track purchasing activity and measurements.
- Ensure supplier compliance with site and company requirements for safety.
- Work with Accounts Payable Department to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices as necessary.
- Participation in company meetings and required events to develop and execute effective negotiation strategies and programs to improve performance.
- Review quotes, score responses, negotiate prices, and award the business as deemed appropriate.
- Manage purchase orders by reviewing, verifying and investigating problems with purchase orders. Resolve issues by communicating with appropriate parties.
- Communicate with users as needed, to review delayed orders, problem orders, back orders or shipping delays in order to expedite the process.
- Develop and maintain purchasing processes to ensure appropriate controls of material purchases.
- Work with other executives and managers to deliver a quality service.
- Individual must be highly professional, detail-oriented, focused and able to work autonomously.
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Individual has worked with a Purchasing System and is able to recommend, implement and be responsible for a Computerized Purchasing System.
- Exemplary negotiator- must possess and demonstrate prior track record of ability to effectively negotiate in adversarial circumstances to acquire a best cost/best value position.
- Must be able to meet deadlines and manage projects over multiple sites.

- Minimum of 5-10 years with track record of increasing responsibility in procurement for middle market or layer organization.
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a supply chain discipline, advance degree a plus.
- CPIM or equivalent certification preferred.
- Must possess a valid California driver’s license and have a clean driving record
- Experience in development of a purchasing department for construction companies a plus
