Purchase Order Analyst

Position details:
- Receive purchase orders from department managers; Review purchase orders for quantity, cost and retail to make sure they fit standards. Make decision to move forward on purchase order as written or reject and rewrite purchase order for location. Communicate decisions to department managers and approve purchase orders in TCI.
- Places purchase orders with vendors for delivery to the retail locations or Wichita Warehouse.
- Resolves unsatisfactory products and delivery issues with vendors.
- Verifies receipt and approvals of PO’s with vendors on transmitted PO’s
- Develops and maintains good working relationship with vendors.
- Proactively informs the appropriate managers within the retail location about orders that cannot be filled because of items that have been discontinued by the vendor or have long or excessive lead times.
- Maintains expected delivery dates records for all purchase orders with updates from the vendor as required.
- Review and analyze existing retail inventory in non-perishable departments to see if merchandise can be transferred to another location vs. writing a new PO.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s Degree with major emphasis on Purchasing, Finance or Accounting in public or business administration preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience that is determined to be directly related to the foregoing specified requirements may be considered for substitution.
Preferred Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in purchasing. Commensurate education may be considered in lieu of work experience. He/she should have a thorough knowledge of purchasing, forecasting, and generally accepted accounting principles. In addition, he/she should be a good businessperson and be able to communicate and coordinate effectively with internal and external customers. An understanding of the beverage industry would be viewed as a plus.
The successful candidate must have experience in working for an organization where operational excellence is a way of life. He/she will have worked in a complex and diverse organization where change and continuous improvement, as well as modern purchasing processes are part of the overall operation.
Personal Characteristics
The successful candidate will have a high energy level, be results-oriented and is an obvious team player with strong people management and good communication skills. He/she will have strong problem solving skills and be willing to assume a leadership role in projects. This individual should have a strong background and ability to work with vendors and retail locations to facilitate the flow of information needed to ensure that inventory is available at the exact time it is needed, in the quantities needed.
