Purchasing Agent
 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Maintain a system, which meets the various raw material requirements of the facility.

·         Develop a sound supplier network.

·         Select suppliers and develop the maker layout in an accurate and timely manner.

·         Develop cost reduction goals.

·         Oversee a proper pricing system which is cost effective and negotiate pricing with suppliers

·         Responsible for initial parts orders and timely delivery.

·         Oversee tooling schedules, tooling contracts and tooling locations.

·         Control supplier trouble reports and develops countermeasures.

·         Orders and expedites parts for new model trials and other projects.

·         Provide information and make recommendations to senior management pertaining to new model supplier selection and other concerns.

 

 

EDUCATION:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field.

·         Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience in an MRP driven manufacturing environment.

·         C.P.M. or APICS

 

 

KNOWLEDGE:

·         Understand and negotiate cost and maintain a good customer/supplier relationship.

·         Understand production processes

·         Understand parts flow, purchasing function knowledge and MRP.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Computer software skills with the ability to develop spreadsheets.

·         Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

·         Organization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.

·         Good math skills and problem solving skills.

·         Negotiation experience in a manufacturing environment.

·         Willingly assists others as necessary to meet deadlines.

·         Automotive experience a plus.

·         Knowledge of Plastic Injection Molding a plus.
