Job Description: Purchasing Clerk

General Purpose:

 

The Purchasing Clerk will: generate reports on purchasing activities and raw material costs, verify price confirmations, review transportation documents, and receiving documents.  The clerk will assist Director in day to day clerical functions necessary to support and continually improve the quality, growth and profitability of the company.

 

 

Education and Experience:

 

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 1 year experience in purchasing or supply chain role.  Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with all levels of personnel.  The candidate must be well organized and knowledgeable in: data entry, record keeping, general clerical skills, MS Word, and MS Excel.

 

 

Specific Skills Required:

 

Ability to express self effectively, both orally and in writing.  Must poses skills such as organizing, listening, general phone etiquette, attention to detail, multi-tasking, and ability to work in a fast paced environment.  Ability to establish effective working relationships throughout departments.

 

Essential Functions:

 

Must be able to perform routine clerical duties and administrative functions. Must be proficient with the computer and general office equipment knowledge.

 

Candidate to provide support to purchasing director and purchasing agent. Individual will undergo training in our database for purchasing, job cost and inventory control. Provide data entry support for the Purchasing department.

 

Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.  Some time spent in warehouse environment taking inventory counts, and reconciling receiving documents.

Supports purchasing director and purchasing agent with the control of documents, information and administrative activities.

Data entry of requisitions and purchase orders in order to have vendors receive payment.

Review requisitions and purchase orders for accuracy and completeness.

Contact vendors to check on status of orders.

Generate various reports for Purchasing Manager/Purchasing Agent.

Maintains records and files for department.

Performs other related duties and assignments as required
