Mooney-General Paper Co. is a wholesale distributor of industrial packaging, disposable food service and sanitary maintenance supplies located in Hillside, New Jersey. We are in search of an aggressive, responsible and talented individual for our Purchasing Department who is capable of producing quality results, and is interested in personal and professional growth. Experience in purchasing disposable food service supplies for wholesale distribution is a preferred! Duties and Responsibilities:
- Purchasing department consists of three member team.
- Negotiate and place orders with current and prospective suppliers to ensure best combination of price, quality and availability in a competitive price environment.
- Seek and negotiate with new vendors to establish new vendor relationships.
- Develop and maintain responsible supplier base for assigned commodities.
- Maintain appropriate levels of inventory while optimizing purchase orders.
- Responsible for ensuring purchase orders are accurate and complete.
- Communicate and work closely with company sales representatives to locate proper items of inventory, advise order status, coordinate delivery, provide complete information resolve discrepancies.
- Work in conjunction with sales department for special quotation requests.
- Work in conjunction with shipping department / warehouse to assure timely scheduling for delivery and receipt of merchandise.
- Coordinate and process vendor returns.
- Effectively communicate shortages and delays to sales department.
- Research and resolve receiving and invoice discrepancies.
- Review Open Order and Past Due reports, and take proactive actions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience in same or similar role.
- Consistency and dependability are essential qualities for this position.
- Strong ability to organize and multi-task.
- Analytically oriented - high aptitude for details, logical, orderly and systematic.
- Resourceful, hands-on, team player - Able to work cooperatively and effectively with others.
- Effective communicator.
- Excellent negotiating skills.
- Strong computer PC skills (MS Word, Excel) along with experience with inventory and purchasing programs.
